I have a Biketrac fitted to my V4S . If I inadvertently move it without turning it on or switching in to service mode then I get a phone call. All good. If I don’t have the key and turn the bike on, resulting in the PIN code screen appearing, this still powers up the tracker and it is effectively disabled. The tracker seems not to require the key to disable itself. Am I being stupid, or does this mean a thief can bypass the tracker simply by powering on the bike by pressing the ON button without having the key?
I agree. I don't think this is the case, however. The Biketrac app records a commenced journey when the button is pressed and the key is not nearby. Interestingly, the bike seems to provide a live feed to virtually everything else ( auxiliary lights, auxiliary feeds etc) without requiring the PIN...
Hmmm... need to check this on the Multi, it's a good point. I suppose it's dependant on the BikeTrac unit being activated by the ignition circuit or not. Dealer fitted mine but in something of a shonky way, was more a matter of quickest/easiest method, it was done as part of the deal, rather that with consideration to security. I've since relocated the unit to a more discrete location as it was previously under the seat and was too obvious. As a listed official BikeTrac dealer it was something of a disappointment.
