1098sfs service schedule question

  1. Can somebody just confirm for me the service schedule on the sf1098s please?

    i always presumed it was:

    600miles from new
    then annually
then in the second year belts and service
    then year 3 service
    then year 4 belts again

so if I was to consider a 2009 manufactured SFS it should of had all of the above or be very nearly requiring a second set of belts depending on what time of year in 2009 it was registered? I mean 2009 was 4 years ago and we've only got another month or so before its 2014 .

its just that I've spoken to a chap with one that's only got 3000+ miles on but he's never had the belts done ever.

he thinks its mileage only but I'm not so sure so could do with clarification

  2. Yep, you are correct on the service schedule. The belts are every 2 years or 15k miles.

  3. You were right first time, belts every two years whatever the mileage is .

  4. So it's exactly as I thought basically.

so its 2 years or 15k whichever comes sooner.

so a bike that's 2009 with 3k should of had

    600m / 6 month service
    12month service
24 month service with belt change
    36 month service
    48 month with belt change

    no matter the mileage?

  5. That would be my understanding.

  6. This is what the * says

    * Service operation to be carried out in accordance with the specified distance or time intervals (km, miles or months), whichever occurs first.

So the belt services have not been done in accordance with the required schedule

  7. So basically it'd need a belts service at the bare minimum by the sounds of it, also any other things it's not had done in recalls and the like.

  8. I can see why he's never had the belts done even if it's 4 years old with 3000 miles on it. But I'd get them done upon buying the bike, use this to get the price down accordingly.

Most dealers have winter offers on servicing. I got the belts replaced on my 1098s last winter and a service for £350 at a main Ducati dealer. Obviously a lot cheaper if you want to do them yourself.

  9. I paid 373 for a service and belts a couple of months ago at a Main dealer.
