I have had a little search but could not find exactly what I was looking for. Q1) I would like to know if anyone has a place they go for service parts like belts/filters etc, maybe online? Q2) Does anyone know the valve clearances for an 2002 748s, inlet/exhaust/opener/closer? Q3) Do I have to measure the clearances first to find out the size of shims I need or can I hust purchase a load of shims? Expensive? Thanks chaps.
I can sell you the belts and filters, fuel, air and oil......plus chains, sprockets, brake pads, rearsets, clip ons, master cylinders, reservoirs, suspension upgrades, clip ons, grips, brake lines, clutch kits, baskets, slave cylinders, and any OE Ducati part you may need. As for the shims you CAN go buy a load...but better you measure up first and decide what you need...you MAY be able to move shims about to negate the need to buy a full set......I understand some Ducati dealers have an exchange system for shims too......Cant help you with valve clearances as I only have the 748RS manuals.......

One thing to take into account is the split collets as these flatten out over time and also have a tendency brake as they get hammered in normal use. The end result is these should be checked and replaced if necessary before taking any measurements of the valve clearence as these will affect the values.
I find replacing the wire collets first often means there is often no adjustment necessary....mine are about £12 for the 8 I need
Thanks for the replies people. Very informative about the collets, do you replace them with standard ones or something else?
You can get some from America which last longer but at a price, i think a set was about £130 for 8 halfs...if you have the money go for it. http://www.mbpducati.com/order.htm
Wow 130 smackers no thanks even if I had that sort of cash to blow on a few slivers of metal. Did you say you got some for 12 quid, are they from Ducati?
Thats right Our local Ducati dealer is Moto Rapido (Winchester).....excellent people who post stuff out, so if your local can't supply may be worth a call
Thanks I may well call them, I've never had much luck with my local dealer and since they moved they seem worse. Thats why I asked if anyone knew of a good place online.
