Thinking of a new 'ratmobile'

  1. Hey, I'm thinking about selling my tidy FP 2005 Aprilia RS125 as I barely use it, I want to get something for similar money (£1250-1400) that I can do more commuting on and general worry about less! Any better ideas than an SV650? I hate bandits and Hornets so I guess it has to have 'some' character!

  2. vfr400 or 750 if you want bigger cc

  3. VFR400's are very good middle weights,i have owned 2 of them for 10 years much fun, very reliable.

  4. How about a DL650 V-Strom? Same engine as the SV but much more comfortable, better weather protection and 220 mile tank range.
    Very underrated and hence cheap!

  5. Yeah, maybe a good shout. A mate just sold a VFR, can't be doing with rubbish brakes and carbs. Plus the heat was outrageous on his, worse than my 848

  6. V-Strom. I thought you wanted some character?

  7. That's true, tbh I had a look today, and once I have sold my Aprilia and paid fee's etc, it doesn't leave me with much for another bike, and that's assuming I get top money for it. I think I will run the RS125 on wet days and ride the Ducati as much as I can when the weather improves around March, if it turns out that I am using the bike loads I will seriously consider getting something just for the job next winter.

The reason this has all come about is that I share a car with the missus as we work at the same place, but we are getting a doggy (a Working Cocker Spaniel) so she is going to do quite a few half day working from home and we want to stagger our hours on longer days etc so thinking the bike is a cheap way of keeping the transport costs lower.

  8. I have a DR650 and used it last winter. Cheap, reliable, cheap, did I mention cheap lol
