Anybody Remove The Pillion Footpegs?

Discussion in 'Streetfighter' started by Force-v4, Jan 22, 2014.

  1. As I dont carry pillions, i'm looking to ditch the pillion footrests. I think they spoil the rear of the bike, especially since I fitted the tail tidy and pillion cover. I know Evotech make one but just wondering is there any other options? Its an 09 1098 'fighter btw. Cheers Jay

  2. The ist thing I did to mine, it cleans up the bike no end, especially if you put a tail tidy on too. I bought the evotech hangar. I also looked at the Ducati Performance carbon hangar, but it's stupidly expensive.

  4. +1 on the help of a child. I could only get about 1/16th of a turn on the bolts at a time. I should have pork and beef tattooed on my sausage fingers

  5. Thats great lads and lasses, I think the Evotech one is the one to go for. I spotted the carbon fibre bracket alright...looks gorgeous! Cant justify paying that money for itwhen the Evotech is doing the same job at a fraction of the price!

  6. Nice colour :upyeah:

  7. My 748 Biposto has the rear pegs removed and the MOT guy threatened to fail it if they weren't replaced for the next MOT (he let me off this time)

  8. What for?

  9. If the bike has a pillion seat then it needs hangers. Introduced last year I think. Fit a hard west hump and it's negated.
Evo tech is way forward btw. Fitted a few now and they are the best out there.

  11. As above, for MOT if it has a pillion seat it needs footpegs (and also a chainguard). Obviously single seaters don't need them and the plastic/carbon pillion cowl (such as on Monsters etc.) counts as a single-seat.

  12. Cheers guys and gals! Feck it just gonna order the Evotech and be done with it. What did you fit in place of the heat shield Char? I hate the standard heat shield-looks shite! BTW both are lovely in black

  13. The rizoma offering - it has changed colour in one place due to heat but poor fitting and lack of spacer by me - need to replace one nut to - was a case if someone melting their boots but I've had no issues

  14. Love the exhaust guard, I'm going to have to order one of them!

  15. It appears mine has a different exhaust hanger but still the same effect!

  16. Just finished it there and buttoned back up. Found it easier to pull the side panels and little inspection panel underneath off and unbolt the tank so I could move it about. Luckily I had the help of my five year old to hold the tank up lol! Looks a lot neater though! Where did you get the Rizoma exhaust guard Char...having no luck picking one up and have the big ugly one removed

  17. I never knew that. The lesson for today.

Mind you, with Termi's, a small number plate and no rear reflector I may be in enough trouble as it is.

  18. Just finished mine, wasn't particularly hard to fit, just time consuming. Ended up taking the seat off and the side panels and it was ok.

The third (centre) bolt on the oem foot pegs was a bit of a surprise though!

  19. Tidies up the arse lovely though!
