  1. Pete
My bank app worked fine always
    Tapatalk worked fine
    British gas app worked fine

The only apps I lost when up dating on App Store was Facebook and national lottery
    I couldn't get candy crush

    My emails worked fine

    All on IOS 4.3.1

    FaceTime works fine

I would still happily run my 4 if I hadn't upgraded

  2. You may be able to revert back to OS6 but you'd likely need to jailbreak your iPhone.

  3. I do love my iPhone 5s though

  4. My only disappointment is that my macbook pro can't 'mirror' to my Apple TV gadge. Its processor (its still a bloody i7) is unsuitable. Because it doesn't have a thingy that does certain unfathomables explicitly. Its a 2010 macbook ffs. I don't want to have to replace my mac just yet just so I can do this extra thing. But thats the sort of stupid bastard I am. Arsehole biscuits!

I'm a sucker. A slave to the man with shiny things.

  5. Bootsam then Apple is telling you lot rubbish as usual he. I can mirror my PC to Apple TV (despite Apple not being happy about that bit of software) and I have i7 gen 3 which is exactly same as in your MacBook. I can also send movies and music from my Android device yet again apple not happy about that. For Android users try Allcast to access Apple TV streaming features hehe.

  6. Someone is impersonating Ducbird.

  7. It is me

I had this explained to me so I found it to copy and hopefully it will go some way to explain :)

  8. It's not strictly true. iOS7 will work on an iPhone 4 because it is working in mine.

Apple deliberately restricts some bits of its OS on older models in an attempt to get you to buy new ones, so Siri won't work on an iPhone 4 (although it could) whereas it will on a 4S.

Spoken navigation commands won't work on an iPhone 4 either (although you suspect they could too).

Naturally iOS7 will work better on an iPhone 5 and later because, yes, they have more powerful chips. It's always the way. In a couple of years the iPhone 5 will be dog slow and bits of a newer iOS won't work on it. That much is guaranteed.

  9. i delete emails from my '4' and that moves them to a deleted items folder in the Mail, on my PC- i merely sign in and delete the contents of that folder, occasionally. Which seems to - luckily for me- to be different to your set up?

  10. too much information…...

  11. I never delete my mail. my iphone is 64Gb and the mail storage is tiny. The vast majority is music.

  12. I think you can drop back but youre into jailbreaking territory here and (more crucially) you must have the "blobs" yes, that's what theyre called from a previous build to be able to restore. Ill shut up now as I might be taking this thread to nerdy town....

  13. I agree "blobs" is correct name when I tried to learn about downgrading iPhone 4s I stumbled on that word.

BTW currently the only phone OS that remains un-hacked is windows phone 8. You know software from company that apparently always has issues with security.

There are few devices that people managed to unlock but that was purely because, for example Samsung, did not remove their own developer tools before selling phones so people could edit registry. Any phone that does not have it cannot be fully unlocked so it also cannot be downgraded to previous versions.
Security in mobile OS is Microsoft ?!

And we are in geeke territory comfysofa fire away about those blobs

  14. To be honest the last time I did it im sure I cocked it up....spent a few hours messing around with it and got it working (old gen 1 ipad) if you can afford to the loose the phone then have a crack at it...for the cost of 20 quids worth of apps that the kids use ( I don't use it ) I haven't bothered for ages although I do believe there is now a jailbreak for ios7 - cant be arsed though...

  15. You can jailbreak 7.0.4. Like Comfy i cant be arsed. I buy all my music and apps and am happy with iTunes so its of no real use to me. Plus I am not interested in coding or delving deep into the files of anything. I dont watch many movies and I never d/l them. I use my iPhone for a bit of surfing but mainly as an iPod with a camera for the odd phonecall.

  16. Part of my business until recently was iphone repairs and didn't really have any complaints that ios 7 is majorly slow on an iphone 4.
It's perfectly usable but obviously slower than a 5 etc. I have a work 4 and have no issue.

It's biggest problem is with pre ios 7 purchased ipad's that are running on a stock charger. With ios 7 installed they will generally not charge an ipad while in use but just slow the discharge and have to be turned off to charge. They should warn users before they do the update as many think their ipad is faulty. A genuine 12w charger which is what they need to fix it is about £25 which annoys them no end when they have to buy one.

  17. I've been told that ios6 can't be restored unless it was jail broken before it was up dated to ios7 ??

  18. My pre ios7 charges just fine, on or off.

  19. Depends what charger it came originally as to how bad it is and how you set the screen brightness. The ipads have been through 3 stages of charger gradually increasing in output.

The 12w charger is visibly different (larger) than the older or iphone type chargers. The 8 and 10w look identical externally.

    12w

Google ipad and ios 7 not charging and you will see it is an extremely common issue.

  20. I use an anker 5amp USB charger....5 outputs plus it can charge 1 iPad, 2 iPad minis and my nexus 10 at the same time.....15 quid on amazon. Or alternatively portapow do a 5 amp charger as well....anker one looks better though.
