  2. if its injection moulded and painted I'd say that was rather good. However its GRP, so i'd send him an email and ask to clarify if its injection moulded or resin infusion/rtm or wet layed. And whether he can do it in carbon, as he's the carbon king!

  3. The advert states injection moulded, I'll let you know soon as I've just bought one. I'll post some pics up when it arrives.

  4. i'd be interested to know Haydn as you can't have GRP and injection moulded - they're two different processes, but RTM or RI is essentially resin passed through a matt of glass or carbon or anything for that matter composite. :)

  5. Ah ok, I'll ask the question. I'm hoping its as good as it looks.

  6. I'd say this was injection moulded as were the originals made by Metalplast. The underseat detail looks very much like an original Ducati single seat. For the price it seems like a good deal and ideal if you want the gold pinstriping around the numberboard. Colour match might be the only problem.

To have it made in carbonfibre is clearly going to cost more, probably close on twice the price at a guess. I think the cheapest I have seen one on ebay is £279.

After watching the short video, a biposto seat pad has been fitted which really doesn't look quite right and the paint design on the numberboards doesn't seem to quite reflect that of some original Mono paint jobs. It would be interesting to see what the quality of the plastic is like. Originals were quite sturdy apart from the very early red plastic based seats and panels which became brittle with age. Alignment of the two halves of some original seats was also a bit off sometimes in the area around the seat pad.

It still seems like a decent product for the money although I bought a brand new Aviofibre Ducati Performance single seat for £80 a while back and that is much lighter and quite near the weight of carbonfibre.

I'd be interested to hear feedback from anyone that purchased one.

  7. First up, Paul at carbon king is very helpful and I will buy his carbon products again in the future. But unfortunately the monoposto seat unit has been returned as I wasn't happy with it. I'm now on the look out for a genuine one.

  8. There was a MS Production carbon monoposto on ebay this week or last. £150 BIN. Cheap. Had I money I would have snapped it up.

  9. What was wrong with it out of interest? The photo's certainly mad it look decent enough.

  10. I got one for £40 once, genuine MS production very nicely made, the person selling it thought it was glassfibre as soon as I picked it up I knew there was some thing strange about it but as it had been sprayed black inside and it wasn't until I got home and scraped away the paint to reveal the MS Production sticker and the code that I realised what it was. This was a 998RS Corse race style seat with no vents. I them went on to get a Carbon\kevlar 998RS Corse seat for £10, but it was damaged. Both have now been restored and in use. Both eBay bargains.
