Hi I am the proud owner of a 2011 MTS 1200 Pikes Peak with full termi, race ECU and some other tasty mods. I bought the bike from a guy in Aberdeen about 5 months ago and had a nice introductory ride (apart from a puncture) back to SW London. That ride gave me a list of niggles which I have been sorting out since: - Rear brakes: Uprated slave cylinder and dot 5.1 oil by Ducati West London in the last week of the guarantee period, So far so good... - Clutch lever span to long for my taste: I fitted ASV C5 Long levers - Tyres worn and rear punctured: Fitted BT023s - my fave - Handlebars too long: Chopped them down as much as possible - Using transponder key awkward: Had a non-transponder spare made and keep accessible on the bike - Front fork knock: Bought the shims and fitted them - Suspension far to soft for my 85kg never mind with wife and luggage: Uprated front and rear springs (still trying to get all combos sag right, but WAY closer now) - Power to iphone for GPS: Used the left side GPS power socket with a voltage divider to give USP spec voltage on all pins. - Bored on motorways: Fitted Tuneboy cruise control and tuning and quick shifter so now I can ride hands free and steer with my body position only (still need to tweak QS settings and tuning 100% but very happy) I ride with the Wey Valley IAM group on the first Sunday every month, but would be up for other rideouts reasonably close to home especially when it warms up a bit. Looking forward to participating on this forum.
Wow, it's amazing what the IAM teach these days, riding hands free the safest way?...haha Welcome aboard. Take no notice of me, I am a madry bastard but ET is worse.
Sounds like a great bike. The original PP colours are my favourite. If you are SW London based then you may want to join one of our Mutley rideouts that normally start at Benson, Oxfordshire. If the weather ever improves then I hope to get a few bikes out around the last two weeks March. Being IAM you may want to lead  The last outing for reference: http://ducatiforum.co.uk/f6/mutley-ride-benson-tbc-saturday-28th-september-14577/
lol! Just because I am a member of the IAM doesn't mean I ride to their standards always! But, at least I know how I should be riding. The monthly rideout with the Wey Valley guys is usually pretty brisk and avoids motorways so not sure if I will demonstrate my no hands technique then? Taken to the extreme hands free allows stuff like tank surfing, seat headstands and kinky fun with the pillion- only my lack of imagination (and desire to avoid pain) hold me back ...
Benson is about 40 miles from me. I'll do my best to make your next ride from there. No way I will lead, but IAM have a good turn marking technique that allows big groups to ride together and no one gets lost, which may be useful to try..
Hi again Tim....you finally made it here Looking forward to your contributions having seen a couple of good posts from you on ducati.ms...........maybe you could copy and paste some of your posts there into this thread ;-) We'll be needing photos of your bike some time as well...........http://ducatiforum.co.uk/f2/multistrada-gallery-61/index22.html Rideouts.........http://ducatiforum.co.uk/f6/mts-forum-info-feedback-suggestions-comments-1858/#post26330 Welcome!
Hi Timsav...I'm based at hatton cross, by Heathrow. I head out with the boys from box hill and the Benson crowd. Also the Winchester chapter. Looking to retake my RoSPA gold and having issues finding a group to help me polish up. Welcome to the forum.
Aircon, although WVAM is affiliated to IAM, we have some observers that are also RoSPA instructors. I can put you in touch if you like ? From what I remember they belong to www.rospasmart.com You could also try Mole Valley Surrey Roadar as that group was formed by members of WVAM, although I'm not sure how active they are. Apologies for the off topic post.
