  1. You can still use local garage as long as its VAT registered and you warranty is not effected

  2. ? Full service on my 07 Saab Aero = £130 ish. £600! Youve been ripped off mate.

  3. £130! where was that done?
    Local college?

  4. Local(ish) ex Saab garage.

Ive just had a new fuel pump and sensor fitted, which necessitated removing the tank and that all in with vat was only £495 and a large part was the OEM pump and sensor. I'd have done it myself but its winter and I dont have a car lift. I usually do all my own repairs, like ball joints, wheel bearings, suspension etc but it was winter and raining every weekend.

  5. if yours is a diesel boots its probably same engine in alfa

  6. unusual normally inspection access under seats or boot carpet. don't quote me on that.

  7. Nope 2.0T petrol. Fucking hate diesels. Theyre bollocks. Altho the courtesy car was a saab deisel estate that had 200k and had been 'breathed on'. Fuck me it pulled like a train and gobbled up hills. So...maybe...nah...i know where i am with a petrol engine. Anyway, ive had enough with deisel as my 1198 can testify.

  8. modern diesels are the bolloxs in particular the jtd variants. no probs avoid dpf if in the city but i believe all new diesels have them.

  9. Its been a rip off for years this servicing lark, they tell you how much it costs but dont tell you how long it takes. Its profit plus for many as people generally dont ask and trust a main dealer.

  10. I used to feel the same until about three years ago, but modern TDI's are brilliant, my 2012 company slag 2.0 TDI Audi A3 pulls like a train, returns 55 mpg on a run and only £30 road tax, what's not to like. My wifes old 2005 BMW 325i auto touring however struggles to do 25 mpg and costs a fortune to tax, it's smooth and sounds great but that's about the only thing going for it.

If you aren't a Diesel believer drive an Audi or BMW 6 pot oil burner, they are sensational. I'm now such a convert I'd chose a Golf GTD over a GTI, the Diesel version is a better car.

  11. Saab - are you are headmaster or perhaps an architect?

  12. I will not drive a Nazi car.

I dont do high mileage. I'll be lucky to do 3-4k in the car a year. I walk to work, come home for lunch etc. S'nice.

  17. Get over it. I'm 55 and still borrowing from Mum.

  18. It was actually £460. I thought the quote was without the £130 for the service, but it was included. I feel silly for starting the thread now.

  19. That's the problem with youth and exuberance, you'll learn!!

  20. so what did you get done for £460. the oil and filters are expensive even at cost 80-90 +vat 2hrs for service at approx £100ph.
i need to stop stressing when handing out the bills.
funnily enough i serviced a 156 recently (service parts not expensive), diagnosed and replaced a wiper motor. an intermittent wiper fault (would switch on by them self). £320 first visit for the fella. went cold on me and took his car else where for the recommendations.
some times you just cant win.
