Not owning an 1198, I don't really have an answer for you. May well be wrong, but thought there was a light which flashed on the dash when TC kicked in, but I'm sure someone on here will be able to tell you def yes or no. Everyone I've spoken to seems to say that at level 8 you have it intruding all the time, so if you haven't noticed it cutting the power on 8 chances are its knacked. If I was you, I'd assume no TC until I'd had it checked by a knowledgeable dealer, 'cos falling off hurts in more ways than one.
Yes, there's a light that flickers when DTC cuts in. On the 1098R, it is noticeable when it cuts in - you don't need a light to tell you as you will know. On the 1098R, DTC only worked when you fitted the race ECU with the non-CAT slip on exhaust that came with the bike. Is it the same on the 1198? Is the OP still running the standard exhaust system (with CATs)? If so, DTC would not activate as excess fuel would end up in the CATs and burn up/destroy the CATs. I am unsure if the 1198 DTC system works the same way?
From memory, (if I can find it) the 1198's with DQS, were only 1198SP's?. However you i guess that you could buy an after Market kits from possibly HM. I would also guess that you could buy the QS as an accessory from Ducati and fit it to earlier models? From 2009 all 1198S had DTC fitted as standard, but not sure whether the base 1198 did or not? As mentioned earlier, check speed sensor on the front wheel. QS's can be very difficult to set up to exact requirements.
What model of 1198 is it? 1. Base 1198? 2. 1198S? 3. 1198SP? 4. 1198S/ R Corse Edition? Need to check which model you have there matey .!.
That link only mentions DTC on the dash not in bike specs but if you google it it says all 2011 1198 bikes are fitted with it
Maybe if I disconnect the wheel speed sensor it will put a DTC light fault on the dash therefor solving this dispute lol
I imagine in order to do this it needs to be on a 'rear' paddock stand and engage gear. My Multy shows an ABS warning when I use this method. So possible the DTC could do the same?
When you compare the '11 specs, it only has 1198 and 1198sp, no S model. For 2010' its 1198 and 1198s If its not working (given how much Ducatis seem to love have the warning light on for the smallest electrical fault!) I wold expect the dash to be going off with the engine light Does the DTC light flash at all when you give it the beans on setting 8?
When its working tho, and the wheel spins and it kicks in which it shold on 8, it flashes like mad as it works. Defo sounds like yours ist working
Have spoken to the supplying dealer they said It HAS got traction control and it must have a problem so I will be booking it in n Monday
No sorry man disagree TC you can have on Nissan micra what green envy is there? Passenger planes can in essence fly and land them self does that mean we pull random bloke to be a pilot (read supervisor) or do we put trained professional that can handle it when electronics go by by? Yep F1 has TC, Moto2 has TC, Moto3 has TC. I think only MotoGP is left with TC and I think not for long. Reason they all do not have it is rule of rider/driver and machine not remote controlled vehicles.
Lucazade we all have our different opinions on things and your input on this thread a complete waste of time your more than welcome to stay in the dark ages with the square wheel, I bet if you had traction you wouldn't leave it turned off !!!
