FE mentioned this before. I would like to keep the outer diameter intact (with the holes) as I have bought a flywheel holder for it. I have a friend with a lathe, but it would be a lot easier with decent dimensions/diagrams.
avoid the nichols aluminium one, the self destruct. Maybe someone has a spare standard one you could machine out.
I have an MPL flywheel on the 916 (MPL have an ebay shop). It is exactly the same dimensions as the original but made of aluminium instead of steel and so is much lighter.
It's solid piece and been on for around 10 years so I reckon it's good. I do have a 'flimsier' Nichols flywheel on the Monster though...
Densel16 Have a look at this. Lighter flywheel(600SS) on a 900SS - Ducati.ms - The Ultimate Ducati Forum 470four strikes again Cheers Gaz
Densel16 Apologies, I must pay more attention detail, its been a long weekend I need a holiday. Cheers Gaz
Just turn the thing down and tighten the flywheel while sticking a podger through the timing gear and into the case. No need to use the tool you have bought. I bought and used a USA sourced ally flywheel, ripped the splines right off the thing when I used it. As Steve said, get some Loctite 270 on the nut and mind the shim falling off behind the roller cage. A dab of silicon sealer will hold it in place.
