1098 Streetfighter Clutch Springs

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by JC749, Apr 20, 2014.

  1. The cap MUST sit flush on the spring post. It's not mechanically secure or stable to rely on the screw to retain the spring assembly in place. The screw is only M5 and not too strong. If it snaps then you'll damage the clutch at best, at worst it lock up. It may be an Oberon thing but that thing means they aren't correct fitment for your clutch I'm afraid......

  2. Ive learned something from this thread :upyeah:

Doesnt happen too often these days.......

  3. Well, lesson for the day. I've never had a problem, but it doesn't sound right and I'll take a look.

  4. Update!

I ordered some stainless M5 washers from Evilbay and popped 2 on each bolt. Result? A properly working clutch.

I thought there was a little more to give so checked the clearance to the cover and added a third which resulted in a nicer feel to the lever. :Smug:
