Not So Good.

  1. Took the bike for its first service today, on the way whilst approaching a sharp right bend on a lane I went to select third.
Gear lever had disengaged from the gearbox so ended up in neutral and had a skip lorry right behind me.
Thankfully I slowed down without incident but was a tad panicked as I was stuck right on the bend (first bike I've had with hazards and they got there first use!).

Rolled it around to a straight, which seemed like an age all the while cars were passing and needless to say not stopping.

Upon closer inspection the star bolt that connects the lever into the box was gone, and after only 700 miles.

Contemplated calling the assist service but was only a couple of miles from the dealer so put one of the Allen keys from the tool kit in between the the lever and box and got it into third, thankfully the bike is happy to pull away in third.

On the plus side, it could've been pi55ing down, on the motorway in the fast lane and nowhere near home.

Thankfully all sorted now and took the long way home post service and drove it like I'd stole it!

  2. I bet since the launch of the Panigale sales of Loctite have rocketed!

  3. Glad you avoided disaster, but a timely reminder for owners to check bolts etc :)

  4. Yeah, it's a bit like being a pilot, you have to strut round a Panigale doing a pre take off inspection to make sure nothings loose and is going to fall off mid flight!

  5. Two secs, just going to have a look in the loft for my pair of Aviators.

  6. Surely the result of a poor PDI?

  7. Hadn't thought of that.
If anyone buys from P&h would suggest a quick check yourselves!

  8. PDI all the way...
