Well, i'm calling on your wisdom and experience While out on track today, I got the orange Engine Diagnostics Light flashing on the screen. Everything else was ok ( no other warning lights etc ). As per the manual “8 Engine diagnostics light” (amber). This light is lit steadily if the engine control unit has found errors and has therefore blocked the engine." I've done some digging online and some reckon it would be the voltage regulator OR an issue with the ECU. I pulled into the pit when I had a chance, turned the bike off and when I turned it back on nothing, bike was fine. Performance didnt drop and nothing changed when the light was flashing. No errors on the dash display either. After a 40 min ride home, it was all fine. Any ideas? Do I ignore it & put it down to an elec gremlin ? (Attached, screenshot from the video)
If the bike is running normally, I have a feeling that is a problem with the exhaust valve sticking. Did the light go away, or is it on all the time?
Bike seems to be running ok Matt. checked it today and no probs. It was more of a pulsing than flashing sequence. How do i check exhaust valve you think?
Had random gremlins once or twice on my 1098. Turned off and on then all cleared without issue.... Wouldn't worry about it if it's out now, worry when it stays on
To fully check it, Im not sure. You can always make sure that the servo motor (on the right side of the bike, mounted to the frame, is working smoothly. Take the right side panel off, warm the bike up (ie turn it on and leave it for a few mins) pulse the throttle and check the servo moves.
Check the manual as it will tell you how to see the diagnostics codes that it recorded when the engine light came on. It may be something nasty like the oil warning, or something simple like a sticking exhaust valve... but check which one first! On my Hypermotard you hold the UP selection button on the bars and it scrolls through the error codes. The codes are also in the manual.
tks folks will let you know what i find...cheers. Im not too worried but dont like "gremlins" in any shape or form
Cheers Bradders......called my local Ducati guy here in Dublin " Mototechnic ". He reckons its the exhaust vale. I'll get it plugged into find out later this week I'm not overly concerned, there's another track day in two weeks !
I'd give the EXV a squirt with gods own aftershave. WD40. Whilst manually opening and closing it. It can get a bit stiff (ooer).
lol....may give it a whirl. (Whipping off the givi crash bars form the Tenere tonight, they're corroded, Im not even gonna get into it, rubbish finish ).
Well, got the bike plugged into diagnostics today...it gave a lambada & unknown error. Guy said he reckons its the exhaust sensor like you's mentioned above. Track day next week !!
