Ive been to Wilkes Barre and other strangely named places in Pennsylvania, fairly sure I visited Bethlehem last time.
Everything went well, six more scars for the collection, three months in a leg brace and could be six months on crutches. This is operation 2 of 3, the third one is much more minor. It does bring home just how lucky I was though, it could have so easily have been game over.
Did you know (quite likely) that you can parboil radishes and freeze them and they make a superb vegetable to go with meat dishes - say like carrots do. They lose most of their piquancy but they are really pleasant. This can be useful as when your row of radishes is all ready at once, you suddenly find that you've got rather more of them than you need for a salad... I picked radishes today and strawberries yesterday. Oh, and another bucket of cherries this evening. Barrel half full now.
Just as a matter of interest, Phil, were you wearing the full high-quality power rangers outfit with added everything when this little mishap occurred?
I was in armoured leather jeans, textile jacket boots and gloves. The consensus is that without the leather jeans there was a tangible chance of either an open fracture of the left leg, or even the potential to loose is completely, as the leather prevented the femur exiting the leg above the knee where denim would have likely torn and allowed the bone to continue on its merry way. I'm hoping to be back on a bike next summer.
I've not been to Bethlehem PA, but I have a friend who lives there, and I've been to places not far from there. No virgins, and nothing holy about that land..
See, if you were wearing shorts while wheelying the Duc through heavy traffic, that accident would never have occurred. Case closed!
If id have been going 10 mph faster it would never have happened as I'd have shot across his bows rather than into his front corner I wonder if he'd have seen me if I were wearing a pink spandex morph suit with a flaming wig on my head?
All the best for you Phil I admire your attitude must be bloody tough I'm about to venture to work up the M3 - can't wait
Thanks Char. To be honest you don't get a choice, you just gave to grit your teeth and get on with it. The trick is distracting yourself before you start to feel too negative. On the plus side there is a month off work on full pay.....
Got this one for a few days, being fitted with one more specific to my surgery either later this week or early next week.
