It serves me right for buying from a numpty via a forum (not this one) but I've got a set of rearsets for my track bike and there are a couple of bits missing. The seller is being difficult and I can't raise a dispute because a) I didnt pay via paypal and b) they were cheap and are actually pretty good apart from the missing bits. Would anyone have the ability to make up a 5mm spacer, 19.5mm across with an 8mm hole and a 185mm gear change rod with a 6mm thread on each end? Obviously in return for some beer tokens of course!
Thanks @final_edition. Ive just been squinting at the screen trying to work out what you meant....I didnt realise there was a left handed thread on 1 end! It would be a male rod btw so it would need a LH 6mm die rather than tap....don't suppose you have one of those do you?
I would have to have a look. You can use RH threads at each end. It would mean removing one joint, then setting the length, rather than adjusting in place. What would be best, if you need a male end, would be tapping the holes and locking in some 6mm stud.
I see. The rose joints from the standard one are a left and right thread and I'm aiming to us those if possible. I guess the other option is to get another right hand rose joint. Not a problem to take off and adjust.
What do you mean eye holes? If you mean the ball joint on the rose the hole is 9mm....if its the thread that goes into the joint from the rod its 6mm. This is the standard one :
ball to ball is 200mm so if the rod was 185/190mm including thread on either end i reckon that would be bob on. There's about 10mm between the middle of the socket and the end of the thread (internally) ....what do you think?
apart from the lack of a left hand thread die that would be an absolute doodle to knock out made up a rod like that a while ago out of stainless using stainless heim joints a while back
Have also made an ally one. Need to get some 6mm studding to finish it off. This is a temp s steel one.
You're kidding! This is like The Elves and the Shoe Maker! That's amazing... Thank you so much! I'm sending you a pm Alistair
