1200 Damo's Mini Tour Of Scotland

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by damodici, Jun 25, 2014.

  1. Well tomorrow after work me and the mrs set off on her first 'tour' and we're heading north.

I've got a new battery fitted and cleaned the bike...kicked the tyres and pushed some buttons....... I reckon she'll do me proud (the bike not the mrs)

4 hours to the first stopover just south of Glasgow and then Friday morning we set off up the A82 heading all the way up to Loch Ness and staying there for night 2.

Day after we head back down a different route and make our way to North Lake District for night number 3 and then finally wing our way back through the Lakes and back towards Derby.

If she can manage this without moaning then I'm a lucky man........... However If you happen to see a woman thumbing a lift somewhere up the M6 Thursday night then it didn't start well :)

Ill post some pics hopefully as I go but if not I'll keep you updated :upyeah:

  4. hope you have a good trip Damo.

I do a lot of two up touring, as do our friends, and the pillions reckon the MTS is the most comfy bike they've been on, possible exception being a GS in some cases.

If she can manage that, your next trip could be the Alps :D

  5. v.warm and sunny up here the now.

  6. We were due off for 4 days biking/camping tomorrow, possibly Normandy, but with the weather outlook, there is mixed enthusiasm from the others (pussies!) so not sure where to head now?

  8. hopefully it wont be a case of you should of been here last week. it has been excellent for he last 2-3weeks right up the route your taking. pretty much passing my village actually. may/June always the best time to tour up hear on the west coast usually dry. July, august, often wet.

  11. just checked the weather, looking good up the west coast to day. looking out the window i have to agree.

  12. So far it's been fantastic , the A82 is brilliant and I'm sure it's no where near the best, this 2 up lark is all very well and good but let's be honest, you just can't get your groove on quite the same.... I might get up early and leave her in bed and go for a few miles on my own, some of the flowing parts near Loch Ness are great.

Anyway, quick stop earlier at the commando memorial, God bless em and the surrounding scenery

  13. A835 from Ullapool to Conon is a damn nice road.

  14. A87 Invergarry to Kyle for a quick solo blast if you are close by.

  15. theirs a little loop invergarry head for skye take a right at the end of the road instead of turning left for kyle
    brings you out at drumnadrochit.
or alternatively sample a few drams and have a lye in.

I'd love to mate but if I can get away in the morning it could be anytime and without much notice :(

  18. Cracking food in this place, the haggis starter and venison main were beautiful, unfortunately the local dark guest beer they had on tap was very moreish and seems to have come with a side helping of hangover :)
