It's epic! There must have been a bus load of Japanese tourists come in last night as the breakfast room is full of them Unfortunately for them I'll soon be drowning out the authentic Scottish music with some bagpipes of my own, Italian style
I could murder a Lorne sausage in a roll...Scots rolls are the best. I'm feeling homesick. Might have to visit me auntie...
Well the Mrs has livened up and insists on featuring She's also resorted to 'photo bombing' me now, me thinks she's jealous of the Duke
Travelled back down the A82 this morning, saw a few multis going the other way so if you're on here apologies if it looked like I was having a seizure. Some people wave, some nod and some stick the leg out(European style), I attempt all 3 at the same time through confusion Anyway, decided to pull off the A82 and head to Oban on the coastal road (a828) My god how nice that is, weather been really kind so far, below a little example of the postcard scenery you get mile upon mile It's a castle but I'm afraid that's all I know
stalker castle nice fast twisty bits there. you passed through duror just up the road from there. thats my home. in oban the now working will keep my eyes peeled.
Ended up having some lovely seafood in Oban from this place, £10 gets a really fresh plate of scallops or lobster tails with the trimmings (although you probably know)
my workshops just round the the corner from there. my mates always pop in when their up from glasgow they tell me its v.good. i always go to kebabish when eating in town. did you head down the lochgilphead rd.
On route back south the A82 was closed just past 'the green welly stop' so a fellow biker suggested turning back the way we came and head back towards oban, down that way we picked up a detour towards Inveraray along the a819 and that drops you on the a83 which wriggles round the coast back towards Lomond / Glasgow Simply put it was the best detour I've ever taken bar non, what a place Scotland is, it's just epic road after epic road,. I reckon I spent more time on the edge of the tyre than I did the centre, I lost count of the amount of bends after about 2 mins I'm now north lake District so we'll see what this throws up tomorrow
one of my favorite roads. far better than main rout this time of year. and you scored with the weather. when i moved out here the mates ask'd why?, now you know.
When I first moved up here I set off for the north west at 5am with not a clue where I was going. Kept taking detour after detour and got back at 2am. In awe of the roads here and still am. Only downside is the lack of track options (if you're into that thing) both from spectating and trackday point of view.
I don't have one yet, I thought we'd just head down towards Windermere but if there's a particular route worth taking I'm all ears
Down Ullswater, over Kirkstone and on to Windermere is good. Windermere, Kendal, Sedbergh, Hawes then Leyburn and Ripon or Settle depending upon your final destination.
Well I set the sat nav to 'lots of bends' mode and boy did it deliver, there some lovely routes through the Lake District, if I'm honest road surfaces not as nice as some that I experienced in Scotland but again I'm sure there are plenty that compete. Didn't stay all day as we had to get back but I saw lots of lakes.......as you would I have a few more pics I'll post up later as some were on a camera and some from my phone
