Need Advice: Rear Light & Baffles; Hyper 796

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by 1um3, Jun 27, 2014.

  1. Hi,

I have my MOT coming up in the new few weeks and I have misplaced my Leo Vince SBK baffles, does anyone have a pair I could borrow for the day? I assume my hyper 796 won't pass as it is a straight through system with leo vinces on the end.

Also, the rear brake light seems to be constantly on, has anyone had this with their ducati?

I did change the rear sets so there is no rear brake light detector in place but it is still plugged in and secure. I will however need a rear light to work when braking the rear brake for the MOT, so I was thinking of using a banjo bolt connector which sets the light off when detect pressure. Has anyone used one of these?

I will upload a few photo's tomorrow, to make it all clearer.

Thanks in advance for all the help chaps...

  2. On the brake light problem

Bit of a strange one if the light is constantly activated. Suppose it could be one of 3 things

    1) Tailight somehow getting a backfeed from the sidelight circuit - faulty taillight or possibly bad earth?
    2) Front brake switch jammed, try disconnecting it to see if the light goes out
    3) Rear brake switch wires shorted together, same as 2 to check

On the banjo pressure switch, I have them on my Guzzi, in fact Guzzi have them as standard on the rear brake on some bikes. They work fine, they come on after the brake is applied as the hydraulic pressure activates the switch. The downside is emptying, filling and bleeding required to install it.

  3. Thanks Old Jock for the response.
Basically, had a good look this morning, and my front brake sensor isn't working so I have ordered a new one of those and the reason the rear light was constantly on was because the pin for the rear brake sensor was out as it is not being used.
I think I will do the rear light with the banjo pressure sensor, as this is the only way I will be able to pass my MOT.

  4. Well the pressure switch/banjo should be fine. The only other alternative I can think of, set up dependent, is a micro switch of some sort and a spring attaching either the brake lever or another part of the rear set linkage to the microswitch.

    Glad the response helped

    John

  5. Thanks, ordered the part and will fit it soon. Just need baffles now for the leo vinces.

  6. Do your exhaust cans say not for road use or race use only on them? If not they may pass as they are
