Harris,Hall,Saville, and others. One common factor in all these cases. How things can be covered up if you are big enough celebrity. All those poor people who have had their lives so badly damaged.Very sad.
The majority of all child sexual abuse occurs within the familial context, over 90% of all abuse is at the hands of those known to the victims, however this doesn't sell papers. All those with a sexual interest in children have only 2 things in common, They want to abuse children and they do not want to get caught. Therefore you need to ensure that you can place yourself in a position of trust, you start generally by grooming the parents/carers. Basically building a relationship with those who protect our kids, then you go on to groom the victims and then abuse the victims. Those famous/infamous individuals generally have a head start in that they are seen to be above reproach, they will work on the basis that the victim will not be believed and they will distort it so that the victims would/should be grateful for the abuse that they perpetrate. Finkelhors model/spiral of abuse model explains it. Motivation (Pleasure, Power, Fantasy) Overcoming Internal inhibitors (Cognitive distortions-Giving yourself permission) Overcoming External Inhibitors (Creating the opportunity) Overcoming resistance (offending) Corrosive, vile and dangerous doesn't even cover it.
Appalling behaviour, and from the look of it he is in total denial. It would seem he was doing this worldwide too, I reckon a lot more to be revealed about Rolf, but probably not through the legal system though, more through the media circus that is. I honestly don't think he will survive prison, but having said that he will probably be in a nice open prison, with a better TV than I can afford etc. May he rot in hell!! He deserves no sympathy whatsoever .
Quite an interesting juxtaposition there of a man who used to openly weep at the thought of somebody's pet mouse being put down on animal rescue yet the same time had the capability to sexually abuse children. The man must be sick. I watched him on the news and felt sad. Sad for him and sad for what he did that put him there. Sadly it can't be any kind of closure to his victims given how long they've suffered. Given the time range over which he did it, I guess he must have been a rather prolific offender. I'd bet he thought he'd got away with it too.
I suspect that being sent to prison at age 84 would not be very different from being put in an old peoples' home. And you don't have to commit any offences for that to happen.
A woman at work paid 3 grand for one of his paintings two years ago, believing it to be a sure-fire investment once he kicked the bucket.
I see his daughter has switched her focus to his £11 million estate and started to wonder whether any of it will be left for her to inherit.
I wonder whilst summing up and just before passing sentence the judge will pause and say "can you tell what it is yet?"
