1098s Engine.

Discussion in 'Wanted' started by kitfit1, Jul 10, 2014.

  1. Just had a very very bad day at work, compounded by a phonecall from Richard at Luigi Moto telling me my engine is buggered. So has anyone got a 1098s engine that HAS NOT been raced at any time ? Long shot i know..................................but things can only get better........................i hope.

  2. Thanks for those links. I did spot them both last night as it happens, hope i have some luck with one of them.

  3. "The engine is a 2008 with a low 4987 miles on the clock.
The engine has only covered 800 miles since the belts where changed."

"also including the full wiring loom and AirBox with Throttle Bodies"

I see its now sold, hope was you who bought it mate ?

  7. Yep, surprised me as well. Thought i was being cheeky at £1400, expecting to have to offer the asking, but he accepted.
Just got to get all the way up there to pick it up.

  8. Picked it up yesterday. Very very clean engine, so well pleased. Dropped it off at Luigi Moto this morning and had a long chat with Chriss (Richard's in Italy). With a bit of luck and a following wind should be able to pick up my reassembled bike by the end of next week.

  9. Thats Great news mate :)

Shame ya could not of had a ducati get together and could got 1 or 2 guys to help you do the engine swop, so saying you more money :)

  10. It would have been nice, yes. But the bike was already at Luigi Moto stripped down lol. Apart from that, Chris mapped the original a couple of months ago. So this engine needs to be set up the same as the old one to keep the mapped ECU as near as possible to the old engine, otherwise i would have to have it re-mapped.

  11. what was buggered on your original engine?

  12. A few weeks ago it started passing oil out through the exhaust, so took it to Richard to find the problem.
He stripped the engine down and found the following. Deep score marks on both cylinders that requires new pistons, rings and have the bores re coated with Nikasil. His view was that the bike had been raced at some point in the past and had overheated. When you look at the top end, it's obvious it has been run too hot for a long period of time (not by me though lol). The cost so far, added to the cost of putting the damage right, meant that finding another engine would be the cheapest option.

  13. What's happening to the old lumpage?

  14. Not shure yet Nelson. May well be able to do a deal for it with Richard against the labour, but won't know until he gets back from Italy.

  15. I have one with a fecked bottom :Arghh:

  16. I feel your pain mate, i feel it. The bottom end on mine is fine, Chris has had a good look at it and thinks all is as it should be. I take it you may be interested if i can't do a deal with Richard ?

  17. I could be mate, or maybe he wants mine?;) See what Rich says. Is he back next week? If so I may see him at Castle Combe on Weds.

  18. I think he's back on Wednesday mate.
