doing a 2V cam belt change shortly does anyone know the bearing number for the roller bearing? or is it a special? or even its correct name? i know the tensioners are just 6201-2RS x4 any help appriciated
The fixed roller Is a special. At one time it could be dismantled, with 2 small bearings inside it. I'll try to look out details tomorrow.
Here's a picture from the 750 Paso parts list which used the Pantah engine. As you can see from the inset, the fixed rollers are built up with smaller bearings inside a sleeve. By the time of the 907ie, 5 years later, they are shown as one piece.
Useful, Derek...........So can the Paso ones be used on a later (say, '96) SS, if they can be obtained? I'm looking at the inset diagram as well.......that is marked as 'd.m.' whereas the main diagram shows them as 'f.m.'......which is the later version do you think? AL.
Yes, they would be a straight swap. I've no idea what 'd.m.' and 'f.m' mean so I can't help you there. It seems that Ducati moved to one-piece rollers with the Paso 906 in 1988, so only the Pantah and 750 Paso used the built up ones.
There's only two bearings to each fixed and adjustable roller on mine..........now I am confused.....
How did you get them apart?............A lot of thumping? And............should you not be using C3 grade bearings, considering the heat of the engine and the rotation speed is greater than that of wheel bearings? Not being picky, just really interested.
Not measured as of yet, but i would use a hardend bolt, i guess with a spacer behind, making sure the 3 are aligned and that it only pinches up on the inner race
I guess the main thing is to get the shank length absolutely correct, but I suppose there is no reason a shim / spacer can't be used to ensure the working length of the roller is the same as the OEM thing.
