Nothing engine or suspension wise, you get, special paint, red frame, light weight forged rims, carbon belt covers, front rear mudguard, air intakes and short screen also get termi end can(all show and no go)what you dont get is heated grips, centre stand and no form of luggage. Is it worth the extra ? probably not but i like it.
Nothing!....ALL bloody Multi's are too bloody tall by about three bloody inches!....bastards!....:Rage:
Tall you say? Erm yep...but it can be managed. I find the centre stand pretty useful, always park it on the stand when out rather than side stand. Heated grips really useful and the luggage is about to be. Happy to sacrifice a bit of looks for cash and usability especially as its going back at some point and isn't a 'keeper'
here is my dilemma, got an 848 last year and have as many bad days with it as good. nothing wrong with the bike its been 100% reliable over the 3000mls. on a good day it really kicks ass but i am way more confident on my old 1100s and dont like having my butt kicked by Manchurian's on my home turf. shallow i know but it kind of came to head there. Friday coming back from work a 30 mile mostly fast twisty road i took the fugly and loved it a had a proper giggle all the way up. thought right that's it the 848 gotta go , i like the look of the pikes so that's it the deal is gonna get done woke up next morning feeling the same, went to take the fugly back down to work and the battery is flat so forced to take the 848. first proper run on my familiar road in the dry with a different make of tyre and feck me what a ball i had. nightmare, what now. think i will deffo end up with a mutly or similar but for now it seems to be put on hold.
Try a Monster. Try 'em all in fact. If I was in the market for a new or nearly new bike I'd be getting test rides all over the shop, just to see what type of bike takes my fancy.
agree, the brother in laws group are way to quick he has lost his license twice on that stretch of road we where on. the other group i ride with are way too slow. think i will get some track day experience, my wife's cousin has a track bike and has invited me out once a month to knock hill. might take him up on it.
i almost did,sat on one at dg whilst pondering what next liked it a lot. but thought get the sports bike out my system first.
exactly what i say to all off my customers. but being a do as i say not as i do kind of twatt i will deffo end up with something italian. same with cars i wont budge from fiat or alfa.
Buy an 1198 Fin. Its plenty quick enough against any bike. Handles pretty well once set up. Looks pretty and the torque will give you a hard on. White ones are the fastest.
that's the thing don't know if sports bikes are my thing any more. next time it wont be an impulse buy. will definitely be taking an extended test ride.
They ain't my thing any more, right out of my system. But the light weight and handling prowess are hard to find anywhere else. Reckon my next bike will be a Monster or Speed Triple, something like that.
I understand that. I confess I've considered ending my sports bike days. Not ready yet though. A base 1198 mutley is still plenty quick. Fancy paint and ohlins which are frankly poor would not sway me from the base models of all ducati's. My showas work well once set up. I don't see any value in the oem 'bling'. If i want ohlins, i buy the real ohlins. Not what ducati provide. Too many threads about them, plus my mates seals went when he was commuting and dumped their oil on his front discs. To say he 'shit em' was an understatement. I'd worry about them.
this shows my lack of knowledge. ohlinn / ducati ohlins two different makes? once app-on a time i would off known that. spent to meny years owning shit just want to start with the best. i don't mess with them i just learn to ride around them. that probably sounded like yon multistrada cartoon there. :Angelic:
having seen the build quality of my mates Triumph, it wouldn't be on my likely list. I will test the Diavel and Streetfighter at some stage, but Id be very surprised if I preferred them to the Mutley
