Meet the superhumans

  1. So do not get me wrong I think add is great and it promotes disability as something normal, cool even. That part is great. Add also works as I want to go and see more paraolympic events then just rugby. However there is something disturbing in that add. For me it is calling them superhumans. Am I just having to much imagination? I just know that in a decade, maximum two some of the prosthetic limbs will make wearers like superhumans. Faster, stronger, better a billion dollar gal/bloke.

  2. i dont like it , not because they look different but because it makes me feel uncomfortable.
The confidence they have to get on with it is mind blowing, I wish I could be as mentally strong as them but I'm not and I think thats why I'm not easy looking at that ad

  3. Peter similar to me re feeling uncomfortable just for me it is the fact they will be faster and stronger then any fully body able athletes of future. I think there was a think in papers couple of years ago where one of the paraolympians was told to not use certain CF leg prosthetics as with it he run at almost 30mph. WTF!!

  4. I think it's a great advert and the choice of music is spot on. 10/10

  5. Really?! Its a great ad and shows that just because you have a disability doesnt mean kid gloves are in order! Hardly saying superhuman, more embodiment of human kind and our spirit

  6. I did say do not get me wrong. In general I like the add just feel bit intimidated. Still rugby and cycling and few others seem to be better then ....

  7. I think it's a great ad... Also the flashbacks to why some had become disabled.
I have to say I know several bikers who have lost limbs so as a bike rider it's something I have thought about long and hard over the years.
Also when I've been dating another biker it's crossed my mind what if ...
My feelings would be no different towards a person.
If it happened to me I hope I was strong enough mentally and physically to cope and be mentally tough.

These sports persons have taken their lives to the next level !

I'd actually rather watch them compete.

By the way what is the track?

  8. You may be thinking of Oscar Pistorius see his Wiki entry:

  9. Being partially disabled myself due to an RTA I have to say I find it refreshing that disability can be portrayed in a positive light, about bloody time.

I used to be a fairly keen cyclist and golfer and would often notice the snide comments if on any given day I beat any of my able-bodied contemporaries, they couldn't handle being beaten by a crip. Good job I have fairly thick skin. Owning a Ducati soon put paid to those friendships - good riddance.

Good advert - what's not to like, they're people doing people things.

  10. It's 'Harder Than You Think' by Public Enemy, fronted by 52 year old rap legend Chuck D

  11. How refreshing I love the advert makes me think twice about moaning about what I can't do.
I'm inspired and if they can do it what the hell am I playing at!!!

These are real people like you and me
Who don't let cruel fate stop them from achieving the impossible
No reason you see why you can't do it

It's uncomfortable for some because it just shows what can be done with determination and commitment

Good on them I say how's about we back these girls and guys and say achieve your goal and dreams

  12. Greyman did not mean to offend. As said I do like the add and what it is trying to show I just do not feel comfortable with naming superhuman. When you think about it, very ironic if any one should feel uncomfortable you would not pick a fully baked person ;) It shows how world changes.

  13. I didn't know you had!! Relax mate, shit happens ...

  14. Predictive text how does it see a link between abled and baked I do not know.

  15. The Paralympics will probably be the only bit of the whole event I'll watch..
