  1. Hi, need a couple of mirror fixing bolts to attach the mirrors. Anyone have a couple lying around?

  2. Ive just got m6( I think) allen bolts in mine.

  3. Get them from a Ducati dealer - cheap.
I wouldn't use normal bolts btw as the proper bolts are designed to fail in event of a small spill to prevent ripping the fairing stays off.

  4. "Designed to" doesn't mean that the original bolts do break at the right moment. You may as well just use normal bolts as suggested above. I had a broken fairing, and bracket and an intact mirror when I had a mishap some years ago.

  5. Ordinary bolt in mine, came off last week and it just pulled the thread out of the bottom of the mirror, nose cone and bracket ok.

  7. Agree I put stainless in mine as a temporary fix, 18 months ago.:Banghead: Never got round to getting new ones.

  8. Indeed, my bike fell over in the garage, the 'shear' bolt survived but the mirror broke and the fairing support bracket cracked.

Plus the heads on the OEM bolts are made of cheese and will round off when you fit them...

  9. So, does anyone have any or not?

  10. Your local Ducati dealer will have some or use standard steel bolts as above.

  11. As I remember they are not that cheap and being brass the allen key internal can round quite easily. I snapped one at the break point once just doing a mirror up and I wasn't using a lot of force.

Cheaper to use an ordinary bolt and either weaken it or use a lathe to just machine a a bit away to force it to break like the originals. That's what I have started doing.

  12. Might be worth considering aluminium bolts if you're concerned about steel being too strong? Got to be cheaper than the Ducati originals too.

  13. Thanks for the helpful comments but I'm hoping to just find a couple of the original fitment bolts that someone might have kicking around.
One of mine has sheared, the others head has rounded inside, my nearest dealer is a four hour round trip and doesn't have any anyway!
    Happy to pay, plus postage!
    Joe
