Ssie Airbox Vs Monster Ie One.

  1. By looking at them SSie appears to be of bigger volume then one from IE Monster.
    Is that the case?

If so will they SSie one fit 1993 Monster frame and Monster IE tank?

I have both but frankly SSie one would suit me better as I am using loom from SSie so everything would be in place for electrics (would still need to mod battery tray but easy that one).
Also bigger volume is always welcome.

It fits in to the frame when engine is out.....

    Anyone tried it?

  2. Also 2002 ie injected metal tank is it same size as later plastic one's? Any idea what is the weight difference?

I prefer no issues with bulging tank and be able to use magnetic tank bags but plastic tanks appear more often and also if weight difference is big..........

I am tempted to use carbed metal tank with external fuel pump as 21L in capacity vs 14L on 2002ie one :) If I go this way which fuel pump to use?

  3. If you are into air boxes and sizes, junk them altogether.......fit K & Ns and don't ride in the wet......;)

  4. There is a thread in DD section on DSC which gives all the weights

  6. If I we're building bhp motor good idea but I like me torque and I like it well "now" ditching airbox moves everything up. Tried it already, another side effect was it was more lumpy down below.
Thx will look in to that. Frankly it would have to be a big difference to sway me towards plastic as love my magnetic tank bags.

Will be looking in to external fuel pump idea as well. Would need to know exact psi injected pump runs at. Could fit it under tank and do return flow and breather at top of tank like 749/999 R have

  7. If you go external pump, fit a 916 tank. Way lighter and smaller in length and looks far better

  8. See Facet pumps at FuelPumpsOnline.............opt for the higher pressure solid state one and you will probably need a pressure regulator too.

  9. No tank of a Monster is what sets it apart as a monster (together with seat and seat cover). That stays.

Will do for fuel pumps but do not want pressure regulator as that is another big piece. Better to get a fuel pump that has designated PSI or proper tank. I know diablo944 website. Nice mods but he never talked about power curve after removing the airbox :).

I have tried it and did not like it so went back to airbox. Not doing that again.

  10. Your Monster already has a pressure regulator, it's mounted on the side of the throttle bodies. It is set for 3 bar of pressure and is essential for proper fuelling. Without a constant injection pressure there is no way of calibrating the amount of fuel being injected. The pump has a 5 bar blow off valve internally, in the event that it gets blocked.

  11. No it does not my monster is carbed model that is now being converted in to injection. Also pressure regulator in 695 upwards is part of fuel pump.
Saying that I might have one external one floating about....

  12. Sorry Luca, I thought it was an injection model. If you are converting to injection, throttle bodies from an ie Monster or an ST2 have regulators mounted along side. I'd also be inclined to go for an external pump and filter but finding space for them might be difficult.

  13. Not this one but it will be by the end. I would also like to look for external fuel pump as that means touring tank is possible :)

ANy idea of PSI I need?

  14. Have you ever purchased any of those pumps? They all seem to be 160-170mm long does that include fuel hose adapters or just the cylindrical pump?

  15. I've never bought one so I can't tell you.

  16. You will need a return flow into the tank to relieve the pressure in the fuel line to the carbs, regardless of which pump you fit.

The Facet pump is 75mm long.

  17. Yes but they do max about 10 psi. 3 bar is much more then 10 psi

  18. Where did you get 3 bar from?........The correct model Facet pump is 1.5psi - 4psi.........the OEM pump runs at about the same, but without a return flow, you will get pressure build up in the fuel line.

  19. We are talking fuel injected bike not carbed
