Just an update on my last thread :- http://ducatiforum.co.uk/forum/threads/new-member-test-rides-cbr1000rr-vs-899-panigale.26469/ Collected my new 899 on Friday, but the weather could have been better as the roads were wet and there was slight drizzle about, just what you don't need for a new bike with fresh tyres! I'd planned out a nice 170 mile loop back home to try and get some break-in miles on her, up out of Newcastle past Hexam, up to Alston, down into Middleton in Teesdale, along to Brough, Kirkby Stephen, Hawes and back home, so I selected "Wet" mode, and stuck to the 6,000 rpm break in limit ( not too much of a hardship as that equates to 95 mph in top gear! ) and off we went. Still blown away by how nice this bike is, even running it in, I'm happy I made the right choice I just love the sensations it gives you when riding it. After 90 miles I got to Brough and decided I'd better stop for some fuel, Jeez....I struggled to get a Tenner's worth into it!! It only took 7.47 litres, I worked out later on that it was doing 54 mpg!! quite a difference to my 990 SMT, that used to drink like an old wino!! totally amazed by how economical it was, didn't expect that!! Sport mode after Brough as it had dried slightly and it was a lot nicer to ride, makes running-in less of a chore Got home about 4:00pm, bike pretty dirty but happy with the ride and set about cleaning it again and installing some new parts,... I love getting parcels like this........... A few hours later and she's looking good, nice and clean again, with Evo tail tidy on, Rad guard, and Tank pad fitted.... Hope the weather this weekend is good, can't wait to get out on her again!! And yes...I know all about the "chicken-strips" but I've had one wet ride home so give us a chance eh??
Looks Great Glad your enjoying it how do you find the quickshifter? Mine is all run in now had its service and is going strong
Most of the time the quickshifter is great, but I've had a few missed shifts into 4th? I think it could be me though, not being positive enough or a bit lazy with the upward "tap"
There has been some problems known on the quickshifter to miss so far mine has been ok no problems ( Touch Wood ) My dealer did say to me that the quickshifter is common to fault at times least its covered under warranty if it does fail
nice bike 54mpg that wont last once shes run in we get 100miles per tank of 1199, proper drinker , bit of a pain when your running on fumes looking for a fuel stop,
Congrats on your purchase. Really enjoying mine to be honest. Certainly the most useable/practical Ducati superbike i've had in awhile ...
I'll be out on it for a good ride tomorrow as the forecast is for a dry sunny day! So I don't miss any more upshifts, I've dropped the gear lever down a touch, that was a bit of a chew as the instructions in the owners manual :Bookworm: are useless as the gear linkage rod that should turn is actually Loctited solid from the factory :Rage: So I had to take all the footpeg assy off to turn the rose joint at the end, worked out ok though. Nice spin out tomorrow should take me up to 400 miles or so? Lets see now...out through the Helmsley TT, over to Malton, cut through to Pickering, Fyling dales moor, to Whitby, lunch at the Sandiside café Sandsend where I can sit outside and stare at the Pani and dribble beans down my chin then back home via Great Ayton...........hope you lot all have a nice day at work though, you wouldn't enjoy a nice sunny ride like that!!
