Pair Of Forks Wanted For 2001 750sport Ie

Discussion in 'Wanted' started by Loz, Sep 29, 2014.

  1. I would like to find a pair of forks, Marzocchi or Showa, suitable for my 750 Sport ie (it's a kind of budget SuperSport).

The Marzocchi's would be a straight replacement, the Showa's would be an upgrade. For the right price, I don't mind which. Brake calipers for the Showa's are something I'd consider.

Specifically, I actually need a right-hand Marzocchi fork lower but anything I've described here will do me, at the right price :)

    Anything out there? Thanks!

Edit: Forks eventually obtained, thanks for looking :)

  2. Ex 848 Showa forks with lower yoke in good condition. Yours for £300.

  3. Ooh! Interesting!

What issues would I have making them fit a SuperSport? Triple clamp swap? Overall fork length, brake caliper fitment?

  4. Loz, I really have no idea but I'm sure someone will know.

  5. Radial brakes to start with

  6. Of course - those new-fangled things!

  7. Just a little bump. My dear old 750 would really like a pair of front legs to attach a wheel to!

    :Hurting:

    Thanks.

  8. Do 748/916 forks fit?

  9. I don't know but if they do, I'll bet I need to start looking for brake callipers, too.

  10. Nope different sizes, you can use the internals tho

I'd sling a wanted up on DSC, some of the racers may have a set of non adj laying around if they've changed them. Its croft this weekend so wont get a quick resposne, wait til next week

  11. I'm about ready to use two bits of two-by-four. I need my bike back!

    Good idea, Paul.

  12. Not sure if 916 yokes would fit and then you could use the sbk forks tho.

I know one guy at least used later front end of a 696 on his race SS but that was a carby

  13. Is a pair of Showa from an ST4S any good?

  14. No, unfortunately. It's been established that Showa SS forks will work or Monster forks witha bit of tweaking.

    Thanks for for the thought!

  15. Imay be worth measuring them, see how far they wouod come thru the ye as if they are same as st2 fit they 'should' be same dimensions just little shorter

  16. St4s legs fit SS yokes but are 30mm short. You would have to put clipons below top yoke.

  17. Shouldn't be a problem with the clip-ons below the top yoke if carbed SS ones are used, should it?

  18. Clip-ons below the top yoke means more weight on the wrists, I guess. Not a direction I want to head in unless there's no other option.

  19. Standard / OEM position for the carbed SS clip-ons......they have a built in riser, but they clamp below the top yoke.

Shouldn't be an issue for the wrists at all because the actual handlebar is above the top yoke..........and as far as I am aware there are several after market versions available.

Have a peek at the SS gallery.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  20. What he ^^^ said, they have a riser.
