2013-2014 face lift models will NOT detect / warn the rider of a jammed open exhaust valve. Software updated to ignore "OPEN always" signals. The software will detect/display a jammed shut valve or at least should do. Great news if you intend wiring yours open; takes just a few minutes. Bad news if you haven't been keeping yours greased (as often as the chain). Don't rely on the dealer to do it on a service, it will be too late.
Did it belong to someone living on the coast? Mine looks nothing like as bad as that. Admittedly i don't use the bike through winter but even so that is a mess.
The bike lived in Doncaster and in all other aspects, it's in showroom condition. I believe it was ridden in the winter, however the owner and his local Ducati dealer failed to lubricate the exhaust valve mechanism. The sole purpose of my post was to give our forum readers an opportunity to avoid my predicament.
So after feeling the bike not revving out at times, thought I'd take the cover off and although not grubby was very dry around mech. Obv not a pdi item ( bike 2 month old ), so good squirt of GT85 and a bit of high melting point grease AND a reminder to myself to check often. Revs well now
OK...my PP is now booked in (30th Oct) to have the cat replaced with a new one; the valve is not a replaceable part on it's own. All under warranty....happy birthday PP ....1 year today. More before and after photo's to follow.
