  1. guys any idea what an 8k mile 748 sps engine would be worth? basically im after some ti rods, crank and sps cams for my 853 track project,so rather than finding all the bits i thought it might be easier just to get an engine and either rebuild that with the 853 kit or strip the engine down and just use the parts in my biposto engine, what do we reckon?? cheers

  2. buy a low mileage 1098 engine.... hmmmm

  3. though about an engine change mate but decided to go 853 route and use existing loom,ecu..ect ect.

  4. how much is ti rods, crank and sps cams? and how much hp you talking? i aint saying dont do it... love the revs of the 748 which is why i have one but if ya chasing power a bog standard 1098 plant will give you more than a multi £000 748

  5. I have a 14k miles 748 SPS engine sat in the garage that I am avoiding - still not sure whether I should use it or hold out for an 848 / 1098 engine!

  6. The SPS is probably one of the rarest engines to find as only 100 UK bikes were imported in the three years of sale over here, only others are foreign imports, so that's likely to be less than 150 all told. I used a 748R engine for my track bike which is slightly better than the SPS.

I fitted the stock 748 injectors, airbox and ECU and had it mapped. It is only fractionally down on a full 748R setup. 748R engines come up slightly more often than the SPS so tuning potential is there.

What sort of output are you looking for? as it might be cheaper to have a stock engine modified.

  7. Slingshot racing have 748rs engines 4 sale. Ex easton.

  8. im looking for 110bhp ish but also build a reliable unit, 748r engine would be a good bet if i can use my injectors and throttle bodies off my biposto.

  9. You welcome to by my 150bhp 996r motor if you have 2k to spend ;)

  14. You are welcome to buy my 749S engine for £500, to make a coffee/coke table ;)

  15. how much coke comes with it? cola i mean:D

  16. It's also got a working clutch :upyeah:

  17. Lol... you bitch... nice one:D

  18. Stock 748R is about 105 bhp mine made 104.8 bhp using stock 748 injectors which are actually better in certain areas as you don't get the stuttering problem you can get with the big 748R injectors. Top speed on the dyno at CJS was about the same as the 748R despite being geared down at the back by one tooth.

A 748R with just some head work could make 110 bhp.

  19. thanks for the offers for the engines chaps but i want to keep my engine,i think if i put a bigger engine in ive then got to start finding all the other parts to make it work, at least i know mine works so id rather just tweek mine,if i was lookin for big bhp id just go and buy an 1098/1198 , id rather have a lower power machine that i can ride flat out at my level of skill than something that cost me a fortune and i wouldnt use it to its full potential.

  20. Us a stock SP\SPS\R engine and spend some money on a decent suspension set up and you should be able to use all the power available.
