Not only are they being absolutely stuffed by 'the whinging Poms' the New Zealanders are ahead of them in the medals table ( I think as flicking through 4 pages of teletext to locate the Aussies takes ages). That lactose intolerance has a lot to answer for.
Sorry Miss, but I've got a note from me mam n she said I've got sausage fingers, so I'm excused!
Aussies have gone to pot. The first crack in the edifice was a laughable cricket team. When that happens, you know the dyke is going to burst. And it looks as if it has. They'll hate being beaten by the Poms. But they'll loathe being beaten by the Kiwis. But being beaten by the South Africans ? I'm expecting a Jim Jones style mass suicide any day.
We haven't all jumped off a cliff just yet! Sport goes in cycles; we had a pretty good, extended run of punching above our weight. Now we're chewing on some reality... Don't worry, my kiwi mates remind me of the discrepancy in the medal tally on a regular basis ... by the end of the games we should get back on top of them but it's a fair fall away from what our expectations have been. Go Casey!
Happened sooner than I thought - back on top of those pesky kiwis! We're a chance in a few more medals, it's not over yet, but we'll see how we go. Finishing inside the top ten nations would be nice... Well done on the men's triathlon gold yesterday. i watched the end of it and the pace on the run was blistering!
Lol......you know, there wont be a mention of the Olympics in the Aussie daily rags....when they arent winning...silence...if they win, you'd think they owned the World.........
Here's a quick one for you, what's 120mm in diameter, shiney and covered in dust? The Australian national anthem CD.
Fair play, they are pulling a few back although Anna Mears has the commiser to thank in the women's sprint final I'm sure. TP#12 I couldn't agree more with you re the triathlon, Brownlees 10k was quicker than the last man in the 10K final race (which was won by a Pom) and that after the swim and run, bloody amazing.
I also see the Romanians have taken gold, silver, bronze, lead, copper and any other metals they can get their thieving hands on.....
So are a few Aussies, ask Vic Pendleton... Anna Mears only has Pendleton to thank for leaving her lane to block the inevitable. Anna acknowledged that Vicky is faster, but Anna exploited her weakness. You win some you lose some, that's sport! No sour grapes now you lot
The last time that I checked, ONE didn't constitute the term 'a few', and besides I think that ONE got Aussie Rules Football and Cycling mixed up
As I said, if Pendleton had stayed on the right side of the red line, instead of trying to block the pass, she wouldn't have had a penalty and Anna wouldn't have had to defend her position. Is that the sour grapes coming out? Are you Brits becoming what you said you despised about us Aussies? Bad winners? Hmmm?
Not at all, just healthy banter and the usual one story, two sides thing. Besides we've won enough cycling Gold medals in the last couple of Olympics, so we're happy enough to give the odd one away to those less fortunate... ..anyway you shouldn't generalise, I've never personally said anything bad about Aussies
