Any thoughts? Ducati 888, 916, 996, 748 95-99 Cam Belts, Timing Belts Made by Gates Powergrip: Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike
The infamous Renault timing belt Look at the picture comparing the two belts. The lower one with the red reinforcing running thru it is a genuine Ducati belt. Pays ya money and takes ya chance......
A Ducati belt says Gates on it to Steve Pic 2 shows two different belts. The teeth have a different finish, particularly to the side of the belt......... Been done to death over the years Cream. Some belts have lasted the course, some fail with drastic consequences, and quickly. There's many differing opinions out there... IMO, as the consequences could be a written off motor, why risk it? Use genuine belts and make sure they're fitted correctly.
I always stick genuine in mine. I'm just not lucky enough to get away with risking something cheaper, and that's just with my road bikes. My pretty much irreplaceable track engine gets new belts before use if I've not fired it up for 6 months or more. Small price for peace of mind.
