  1. I understand the need for street lighting, but for a stargazer light pollution sucks...

  3. Apparently light and noise pollution is causing the 'Dawn Chorus' to be earlier than it used to be!

  8. I had a similar experience camping in the middle of nowhere in Snowdonia when I was a kid, not a street light around for miles. The sky was absolutely staggering, I'd never seen anything like it. I've loved stargazing ever since.

I live on the outskirts of Bristol, the light pollution isn't too bad here really, especially after midnight when they turn the street lights off in our village. It's certainly good enough to get spectacular views of the other planets in our solar system through my telescope.

  11. We used to be able to go to the London Planetarium in the Marylebone Road, but unfortunately it closed in 2006.

  12. There is still the Planetarium at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich. I've not been myself but I've heard it's pretty good.

  14. went to that one in london, superb.
got one in glasgow, took the kids,i got vertigo?.

  15. Greenwich one is v good. The Royal Observatory has a lot more to offer than the planetarium though. Very interesting history.

Ive a few telescopes. I usually take one or two when I holiday in Scotland. The best view of the night sky in the British Isles.
