  6. There is hope for you yet fin.

Woman on the left was Camilla Cavendish, who writes for The Times, she was very good.

  7. DOH!.

  8. She's an Oxford PPE graduate who studied with David Cameron. Also related to the Duke of Devonshire. So she would be, wouldn't she?

  9. Not necessarily, but in this case most definitely.

  10. No wonder... you bitter and twisted sheep shaggin fuckers. I remember sitting in a boozer on Union St. when Rangers were playing in the champions league and the hatred towards Rangers was unreal. And as for England.... Jesus...
I worked in the North Sea for 11 years and 99.9% of the scots were ace. Cheerful, friendly and a good laugh. What happened to you?

  12. Exactly. There is as much money around today as there was pre crash. It's just been robbed from the poor and gone to the rich.

If I were in charge I would windfall tax the bejesus out of the likes of Starbucks and Amazon until they leave the UK. WE DONT NEED THEM!
Let locals open up coffee shops, pay tax and spend their money locally.

I would also, in Scotland at least, have an unashamed full on land grab from all those wealthy folk that own huge chunks of the countryside and do nothing with it. It stifles the economy and allows populations to dwindle to the point of being unsustainable.

Eigg, 40% population increase and powered by renewables -100% since community buy out.

  13. John,, your " would be " simplistic attitude towards a complex situation does it a great disservice,, as , my good man, it does to your self..

  14. not really, that is a well versed chorus, and has been for some time, just that RB seems to be the lead singer at the mo.

  15. Thank christ you're not in charge.

  16. Yes. Cuba of the North Atlantic anyone?
On the other hand, good news for England. On those terms, come independence day the Scottish business community will be heading south faster than Carols Kirkwood's unsupported knockers.

  17. oh yea,,, and the present mob are doing such a wonderful job,, I don't think so !!!!! the problem with your capitalist system is that it only works for the minority at the top of the tree and at the expense of everyone else,, thats ok if you are one of the elite,, ( well depending on ones morales )

  18. I can go to my local small town which has no large chains on the high street and buy better quality goods, often for the same money or less. The shops are owned by local people who pay tax to the UK treasury and often pay staff above the minimum wage, as in my local cafe in Lanark.

Speaking of which, this cafe was recently voted best tea room in Scotland and I know many other such places which make the likes if Starbucks look like pitiful hovels selling slop. So what kind of society do you want? One where huge companies serve up crap and syphon the profits away without paying tax, whilst the rest of us pay our tax and wonder why the NHS is struggling and why we can't look after our soldiers? Have you seen the documentary on working in Amazon. It's disgraceful.

With regards to the land issue. It's a fact that these absentee landowners do not make sufficient use of the land and that community ownership allows places to flourish to their potential. Many of these people "own" this land simply because their fore fathers bullied and intimidated others for it centuries ago. Others are "investors" who bought it from the aforementioned.
