748 Magnesium Swingarm Chain Rubs

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by Danger Mouse, Dec 20, 2014.

  1. So I needed some chain rubs for my Magnesium swingarm. Having searched all over for some that would fit and failed miserably I set about thinking how I could make some.

First I thought get the profile water jet cut then mill the surface. Then I thought what about that new(ish)fangled 3D printing malarkey?

A quick brush up on my 3D CAD skills produced the models. Model.JPG

And these arrived in the post yesterday.

Oh and having to select a prefix for the thread is a bit daft, this applies to 748/916/955/996/998 bikes. Admin, can we have an 'All' option please?

  2. cracking job there they are quite rare these days....

  3. Very nice, 3D printing will certainly be another option for the future. RS Online have started advertising quite a few models of printer in the last few month and the prices have not been as staggering as I expected.

  4. Nice work. Any clues on cost? They are around 190 dollars from the US source I know of

  5. Yeh I found those but I asked them for the dimensions before I shelled out a ludicrous amount of money. I found they wouldn't fit. As we know there are several versions of mag arm out there.

Anyway they were about £20 each.

  6. Great deal. If you fancy making a bit of profit I could do with a pair or two.

  7. £40 and nice mark up which still makes them below market value by miles. The Chinese revolution has arrived in the UK

    Nice job :)

  8. Bloody marvelous! There are some clever buggers on the forum aint there!:upyeah:
