  8. bloody hell, a whitworth spanner, how old are you @Arquebus ?
    quite cleaver btw.

  9. There are special cam pulley nuts, and special tools for undoing the standard 4-slot nuts, which are made by an engineer in Derbyshire named Kevin. On eBay he goes under the name of turbosuzukis and he can make lots of special tools and parts for many models of bikes, mainly Japanese.

  10. I've just made this in 20 mins or so to turn the crank easily.. Rather than wait a couple of days and waste 30 - 40 quid..

  11. My old man and his brother; plus my mother's brother were all engineers, so I acquired many of their tools...........but don't discount using Whitworth and other Imperial sized spanners etc...............they can be bloody useful when trying to find a tighter fit on a stubborn metric nut or bolt.......

For example, the sloppy fit of the metric sump plug allen key is resolved using the slightly larger Imperial key (Can't recall what size it is, I just know it fits better).

  12. absolutely, 1/2 inch hex better than 13mm
although AF might be to modern for your box.
