Stop thread creeping and get on the finminum Avatar thread, it was created before the thread creep compliant so I self regulated Actually I think he meant Speedy Gone Triple was a thread Creep :Wideyed:
Maximum apologies oh e'steamed* one. I failed to research the 100s of posts before posting. * made up word...but I know exactly what I meant.
As I said before gramps, I like the young!! Do you think I'd get much joy googling "thot"? Just pointing out that typos can creep in anywhere, and all fall victim to them, to someone being critical. I never object to typos normally but ignorance of correct usage - there/their/they're, tail/tale, your/you're etc are a different matter of course. But I'm bored with trying to elevate the standards of the forum from semi-literate to the giddy heights of O-level English, so I'm going to desist from now on. It's been like banging my head against a brick wall so it will be nice to stop (for everyone, before you say it!)
Apparently Cameron has discussed (or is discussing) the UK terror threat. Not sure what use another discussion is. Times have changed, so in my opinion, action is needed.
There were a couple of good articles, it seemed to me, in the morning papers: Far too many Western Muslims speak of freedom as a sin - Comment - Voices - The Independent and: Global outrage at Saudi Arabia as jailed blogger receives public flogging | World news | The Guardian The fact that Saudi Arabia dared to show up to the Paris march just beggars belief. Someone should be offering political asylum to this guy. Thanks to their oil, Saudi Arabia operates with impunity. I can't see how the West can really claim any moral high ground while they don't make serious attempts to get a proper outcome to something like this.
Yes, I do understand this. It will be remembered that Osama was part of the SA royal family (although I concede that it's a big one with many members). Most of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudis. Wahhabism is the principle deviant form of Islam - the Saudi state religion. Saudi oil money has surely been used more than any other funding to promote extremist Islamic views. So real politik is fine, but surely there comes a time when enough is enough and you stop pretending that Saudi Arabia is "an ally". They play a double game, just as Pakistan does.
I think we need to plan our response carefully. The jihadists will never achieve their aim in Europe unless they get their hands on serious weaponry. Perhaps we should be concentrating on strangling the supply chains to errant Muslim countries (that's what brought SA back into line) and trying to ensure this doesn't happen. Just a thought. Iran worries me much more than North Korea.
I am certain that jihadists will never achieve their aim full-stop. They haven't a hope in the west. There are far to few of them (essentially insignificant numbers) and they will never have the resources of the rich states. Plus the people they try to impose their ideology on don't want it in the main - they just want to live normal lives like most people. The best policy with Iran is surely to help try and thaw it out, whilst using cyber attacks that are hard to trace to prevent them from developing anything too evil in the meantime. I suspect that this is the policy being followed.
It appears that it isn't that difficult to obtain serious weaponry. The UK Border Controls don't exactly have their finger on the pulse and the government in my opinion is relying solely on the spooks to pick up on 'chatter'.
Think of all the countless millions of guns in the world today. And then think of all the manufacturers adding to that number every day. It's not surprising that every Tom Dick and Harry has got one - or several.
