Concessions, concessions. Every time the islamists have demanded some change in society, they have been appeased. Child genital mutilation, slaughtering of animals, wearing face masks, setting up separate schools - these and many more issues have been conceded without a fight. And the people who have suffered most, and been hung out to dry, are the ex-muslims like Ayaan Hirsi Ali. She knows better than anybody, from bitter personal experience, where this leads. Every time there is a concession, it is rapidly followed up by a new demand in some fresh area of life.
A holy war is unnecessary and would be a huge mistake. But we need to stop giving ground and close all Muslim schools as they brainwash young minds. Leave the other faith schools. They don't produce closed minds it suicide bombers. It's our club and we can decide who joins it and how they have to behave. If they don't like the rules they don't have to try to join. Same as the Labour/Tory cubs etc.

Yes, nominally. But none of the thousands of instances of this crime has been prosecuted. Prosecuting authorities have resolutely refused to take it seriously for 20 years. And when the first ever prosecution is announced, it is (incredibly) of a doctor who had tried, after childbirth, to repair the damage done to a woman by FGM years previously. You couldn't make it up. When it comes to mutilating boys' genitals, it is still not illegal. In fact mutilating any other part of a boy's body is an offence - it is only and specifically the genitals you are allowed to chop.
Pete, I completely agree that it has been due to lack of evidence. It has been illegal since 1985, and has only recently come in the public conscience as being a problem.However we are taking the right steps towards making societal changes for it to become non practised and their is a huge amount of training taking place not only within London but nationwide to help uncover the practice. When you look at it globally it is a massive problem, over 42 countries practice it, with millions of women having suffered. This is where I believe that France have it right and have made it a criminal offence not to report it.
If you are talking about male circumcision the reasons given are different from the reason you would mutilate a female. One is perceived to be a practice that is excused as medical and for health and cleanliness the other is about the control of women. I don't agree with either, and both tend to be cultural as well as 'religious'.

Reference criminal acts in the name of religion ^^^^, the UK legal system is very good at ignoring some crimes. As an example, we have bankers who should have been on fraud charges. An ex prime minister that should have been Impeached. On a way smaller scale, a city trader who dodged his train fares for 5 years, circa £40k. Now if I take goods from a shop, get caught, offer to pay...will I not get done for shoplifting? For years our politicians have pussy footed around anything to do with religion, colour of skin or stepping on the toes of the upper classes/money people. Basically anything that might cost them votes, seem uncomfortable to deal with for being labelled racist or have a back lash from the minority. At some point (now?) the main three political parties will have to take the bull by the horns and be seen to do something to redress the balance. Either that or we will have even more 'extremist/activist' political parties coming out from under the stones in this country. Free speech is preached by government, but smothered if it doesn't suit them. Yet hate preachers are allowed to carry on regardless. No doubt there will be more controls in place in 12 moths time to monitor OUR phone calls, texts, emails...forum posts,..but precious little to actually control the extremist preachers and teachers. As far as I was aware it was/is illegal to have more than one wife in the UK. However, according to a contact I have in a Benefits Office, this is not so; because despite certain claimants being brought to the notice of the Police, nothing happens.
She is right on the money. I am heartened to hear her say the same things that I have said above, without knowing a tenth of what she knows about Islam. I'll take it that I won't need to spend my time studying the Koran just to reinforce my current view that it is dangerous, divisive tripe.

So totally agree with this. Only today Cameron has said that if reelected, there will be even more surveillance. In other words, more extreme treatments of the disease rather than its prevention. It's surely not that complicated: stop the hate preachers, and prevent the Islamic message getting out to vulnerable people, ie children and convicts. As I said before, Europe needs stop this rubbish that all faiths are equally valid. They are all delusional, and some are more poisonous than others.
