I never said it was "a great newspaper". You would never get a job on it because inaccuracy seems to be your middle name. It reports the facts very accurately, regardless if whether you like its editorial line. I'm just saying that the criticisms of it one often reads and hears are wide of the mark. There are lots if things one could criticise it for, particularly around its news values, but factually it is very accurate. And what about its bravery in naming Stephen Lawrence's killers? Everyone keeps quiet about that because it's actions don't sit well with their prejudiced views. Bigotry isn't a preserve if the right you know! The secret qualities element of your post I don't follow. Sorry.
A good wordsmith never uses the words 'get' and 'got', there are always far superior words that fit better into any particular sentence, apart from this one of course when you are telling someone like SpeedyT who really should know better.
I know I am only a newbie and I stand on a pallet and all that shit,, but should there not be a rule that a post can only include max of 2 lines after, say, 11 oclock,, save people making a fool of them selves.. ( unless of course it is very important technical \ ducati stuff )
You are absolutely right but I refer my honourable friend to the reply I gave to the feathered one above.
Says he in a seven-line post (on my screen). No. Screens have different widths so it would be possible to police.
Back-pedalling and qualification noted. Is that what you call research? "I'm not sure but I think his middle-name might be 'Inaccuracy'.". Writers call research "the R-word", such is their hatred for it. Your desire to separate factual content and editorial line is charmingly naive. It's a kind of newspaper - facts (or otherwise) and spin are as inseparable as the paper and ink. The overall effect is what I am complaining about. Nice try at deflection though - are you sobering up? I haven't heard or read any criticisms of The DM. I have on occasion read the paper itself - it is from this that I formed my opinion. If five hundred monkeys typed for five hundred years ... Apology accepted. You, S_T, were the one that suggested I was speaking from ignorance. Ignorance suggests that there is something about the DM that I am unaware of. That is the secret I refer to. So what is the secret ingredient of the Daily Flail? Is it ... people?
