There is a lot of talk from Muslims about the hypocrisy demonstrated in the prosecutions and censorship of anything involving the Jewish faith. This is a little complex and I have to admit that the Jews leave themselves open to some criticism; For example, Murdoch has apologised for the offensive cartoon printed in one of his papers (Sunday Times) as below: Now this is a cartoon that criticises Netanyahu's actions against Palestinians and is not targeting the Jewish faith, so how can it be anti-semitic? Maybe I'm missing something here but we have to be consistent don't we?
Right on. There's nothing anti-semitic about that. It's not anti-anything. It's lampooning the Israel PM. I wish people would stop confusing Jews with Israelis.
Some useful comment pieces from Saturday's Times. I know it's a newspaper and they are eschewed by many here, but I think they are insightful. View attachment 41379 View attachment 41381
A French Muslim cafe owner displaying a "Je Suis Charlie" sign outside was threatened. Aren't we a tolerant bunch! East London café threatened for placing Je Suis Charlie sign outside - Telegraph
Some comment pieces from Saturday's Times. I know a few of you question the value of newspapers but I think these articles are insightful and add to the debate.
Clarification can be found towards the end of the report... "The man who made the threats is described as Asian, in his 30s, and he was wearing a grey sweater and scarf and blue jeans."
Self-appointed, self-aggrandising ... What next? Self-abusing? Sorry. That was below the belt wasn't it? arf arf!
Interesting articles, interesting POVs. A measured and rational response to the craziness of a one-off situation. I'm relieved to learn that there is nothing to worry about, it's all going to be fine and all will be resolved without anyone having to lift a finger. Job done.
When I say aren't "we" are a moderate bunch! I mean the Human race. We find every reason in the World to be intolerant. Religion is the biggest culprit.
Of course. But it was disingenuous of you not to point out that the culprit was Asian as it led to the possibility that people would assume he was English.
