For everyone's information the great Satan is doctoring my posts like the puerile prat he can often be before reposting them. Compare and contrast to the original please.
Wow lots of comment and opinion on a very emotive subject! First off there is NO mention that the Prophet Mohammad should not appear in any art form, there have been many images portrayed and displayed through the ages. The decree is simply some ones interpretation of the Prophets wish not be idolised and worshipped as deity. There are however strong warnings made in the Quran against idolatry. Indeed there have been artistic impressions of the Prophet throughout Islam dating back to the 13 century. Today there are no images across the Islamic world, however there are 2 images of Mohammad in the New York metropolitan art museum ( never knowingly a target for extremists). There is a degree of ignorance by some in the Islamic world due to being unaware of the once beautiful images, typically if you are "force fed' ideology from an early age there is no questioning the reasoning of the Quran, Imams and Mullahs. As recently as 2008 images could be found almost everywhere in Iran, on rugs and postcards. Even a 5 storey mural was commissioned by the government. In 2012 following he Egyptian "Arab spring" a mural shows the Prophet riding a horse, possibly into battle. Its worth noting that Iran are Shia and Egypt Sunni. The real danger to the "non Muslim" world and indeed those who do not conform, is the worrying rise of Salafism. This is the "hard line devotee", think Opus Dei of the Roman Catholic faith but add in brutal Sharia laws and punishments, a complete disbelief of ALL science replaced by the utmost belief that EVERYTHING comes from and through Allah, complete disregard for equality, and that is where we find our extremism growing, nationally and internationally. Its easy to blame the west for the 'retaliation' some say we are no experiencing. But food for thought, a total of 71 Islamic terror related attacks took place on American soil between 1972 and 2104. I do not believe that we are the reason that extremist Islam has manifested itself to carry out brutal attacks in the west and on their own soil against all 'infidels' and that includes Muslims. Shia and Sunni Muslims have been in conflict one way or another since time began, we did not start the fire between them. Mention is made of the Crusades and Catholic brutality towards Muslims, lets not forget we were pagans who suffered 'forced conversion' Islam has itself a history of 'forced conversion'. Parts of Pakistan were 'forced' way before the crusades, Coptic Christians were forced to convert, pay huge taxes or die if not 'willing'. While western interest has opened the way to the spread of extremism I don't believe it is the root cause. Syria, Libya and Iraq are age old tribal countries with deep rooted hatered of each other's Islamic belief fuelled by countries such as Iran, Shia v Sunni and were the glove fits one supports the other to their own ends. Politics and power ultimately rule a mans heart, very very few truly submit to will of God. Terrorism is funded by the very things that their religious beliefs teach against, murder, extortion, prostitution and drugs. I have lived with Muslims in the Middle East and Africa for the past 14 years due to work and not one man amongst them did not commit adultery or drink alcohol or take drugs, they are after all just men. I know of Muslim women equally as guilty of the above. While I can say I have Islamic friends I might add that none of them are British or living in the UK. The reason for this is that I feel we are far from a multi cultural society, we are segregated neighbourhoods. Muslims do not generally mix into our society, certainly not where I live. There is plenty of evidence of areas that saw only a handful of Pakistani families in the 70s are now completely dominated by them. There is proof that under ground schools teaching strict Sharia Islam are operating in the UK and the recent OFSTED reports outlining real concerns about schools in some of those Muslim communities are cause for worry. A major concern for me is our security forces/agencies inability to pro actively deal with homegrown Islamic extremists. Michael Adebolago and Michael Adebowale were known but carried out a despicable act. Those who carried out the attacks in France were under the ' watch list' and had travel bans to USA and UK but managed to bring Paris to a halt. Can those on the lists not be tagged liked common criminals? Make them sign in weekly at Police stations? Those who travel out of UK to join the ' cause' in Syria, Iraq or to undertake training camps in Yemen or Sudan should surely be refused entry back in to UK unless they can prove their whereabouts for the spell they left the country? Politicians are toothless and spineless, we are a nation that generally tolerates that which we actually do not like. Islam is the fastest growing religion on the planet, Islam by its own admission sets out to establish Islam as the dominant force in the world. I recall reading a paper on the spread of Islam and it estimated that within 20 years a non Muslim European country would completely convert to Islam. As tolerant as people on this forum claim to be or no matter how much they blame the west for what is happening, would you really be happy to live in an Islamic ruled country? And to end..... Qur'an (8:39) - “And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and polytheism: i.e. worshipping others besides Allah) and the religion (worship) will all be for Allah Alone [in the whole of the world ]. But if they cease (worshipping others besides Allah), then certainly, Allah is All-Seer of what they do.” Translation from the Noble Quran All IMHO of course, except for the Quran quote,
When they were young, I banned my children from flinging insults around and then trying to avoid the consequences by saying: "I was only joking", which is precisely what you did there. Presumably your parents didn't think it was important to steer you away from that sort of passive aggressiveness.
You know what to do Elsie. You're a smug, insufferable Yorkshireman. Just like that loathesome cricketer, can't remember his name!
And you didn't listen to yours if they indeed taught you he same as you taught yours? I bet you said do as I say not as I do quite a lot (big smiley (huge in fact))
pity the you couldn't have had some influence on the French then there might not have been the terrible consquences of last week,, but there again that would not have suited those who will really advantage from yet more racking up of the anti Muslim rhetoric.
Speed_Triple. I have agreed with many of the points that you have made and rated many of them positively however you seem to take every opportunity to pick a fight; I have lost patience with this trait. Yes I took a pot shot, it is not something I do very often. It was meant to be fairly light hearted, hence the smiley, but you chose to take offence and that is outside of my control. Don't bother to analyse my previous posts to construct a response proving who knows what because I am not going there.
But the reader was told in typically poor internet style: "Witness's (sic) have reported that the attacker was in his mid 20's (sic) and (was) shouting white supremacist slogans" before they learned that he was Asian I would have have moved the man's ethnicity up the story because it was important and in case anyone had to stop reading before they learned that the man was Asian. It was pretty important after all. News stories should always carry the most important elements at the beginning. That's how all journalists are still trained, to my knowledge. If the Independent was trying to lead its readers down the wrong path, it was acting in a disingenuous and dangerous manner.
I know you've been very fair John. That's why I was surprised at your latest post. I probably shouldn't have bitten but I am feeling a bit bruised here. Now I'm having to put up with the childish editing and reposting of my posts to make me look stupid. Sorry.
They are in response to your tirade of attacks and insults to other people, that is all - chill man and be nice :Angelic:
I don't think anyone in the west is seeking to gain - or indeed can gain - any advantages from any of this. But we do need to protect ourselves from the collateral damage of militant Islam's attempt to present itself as a major force on the world stage.
