748 Correct Decals For A 98 Rreg 748

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by Fudoshin, Jan 21, 2015.

  1. Hi all,

I've got myself another 748 BP (1st one was lonely..) and it's going to need a bit of work to return it to its former original glory. It's currently got a set of Chinese plastics on it and I'd like to put it back to original panels and decals. Am I right in thinking that it should have the original style of decals with the large ducati 748 desmoquattro down the middle rather than the small ducati decal at the top of the middle panel that you get on s reg bikes?
Thanks in advance for your time.

  3. My '98 bike had the later decals. It was a funny time as there were lots of earlier bikes getting registered, mostly as imports. I can't help much at the moment but if you pm me the chassis number, last 6 digits is enough, I'll be able to tell you what should be on it. It'll be next week before I can help though....

  8. At the moment it looks like this (with its evil twin (no pun intended) lurking behind it... image.jpg

  9. Interesting paint scheme on the tank.

  10. I'm sensing you don't like the ' poorly prepared so all the paint fell off when petrol touched it' look then? You purists, never allowing others to express their creativity... ;)
(Previous owner I hasten to add...)

  11. WOW! That's what happens with no primer then.

Did you buy her like that od did it peel off on you?

    Hope you got her cheap.

  12. Bought it like it, along with an oil pressure issue (fixed with a new switch) and it there's a possible whine from deep within- could be main bearings (it fell over whilst idling in a car park apparently)but haven't had time for a proper investigation yet- 23k with part service history and for a good price too..

  13. Nice little project then.
