Any Heating Installers, Gatwick Area ???

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by doogalman, Jan 30, 2015.

  1. Hi guys, anyone out there install heating systems.
Our daughter has a small 1980's build house that needs a full heating/hotwater install. The house at present has the old Janus warm air and Janus indirect hot water cylinder, and she want to get rid.
If anyone is interested in having a look for a quote please PM me and i will get back to you.
She works for the ambulance service so better if you make contact with me first as she does shifts and i am a bit more clued up to what needs to be done.
    Thanks
    Roy

If you should see any of these leaving little messages for your rose bushes; quickly collect..... as these have the same rarity as the availability of a good heating engineer at this time of year.

  3. Come on ACT, I thought you'd at least try to talk him into an air source heat pump...

  4. No great hurry, it needs doing at some point, so may as well look into it and see whats what.

  5. On a serious note how do heat pumps stack up cost wise, install and running costs compared to Gas CH?

  6. Plumbers / heating engineers tend to be local 5/6 miles for domestics and that's probably best.
Personal recommendation is always best and NEVER pay up front, even for parts.
Make small stage payments until 100% complete and that's just based on people I know and trust...

  7. All makes good sense.

  8. For 90% of people stick to Gas CH (so long as you are on mains). Unless you need the benefit of cooling / drying, the cost / benefit doesn't add up.
If you are on stored gas (LPG) or oil or electric then Air Sourced heat pumps are great, but the pros and cons need to be weighed up.
If you have mains gas then this is a lot cheaper to install, however the running costs are the same as ASHP.

  9. No point for 98% of people unless you have a large house off mains gas or need drying or cooling.
Ask me again in 5 years for my considered opinion.

  10. Ok cheers for that.

  11. I've worked with heat pumps, and I have to say it would seem wiser and more cost effective to get a decent gas boiler. There are plenty of very efficient ones around these days, and the cost of heat pumps hasn't come down enough.

  12. @figaro....PM me with some details of your work...mine are pretty public...never know we may be able to do business one way or the other.

  13. To be honest I don't have the time or inclination to do private work any more. I want to work less, not more. I've been servicing and commissioning a/c for about 20 years, Daikin trained, and more recently got involved in VRV and VRF installation, but I don't much like installing, it's a lot more grunt for the same money.

I'm working paye for a bigger company now and it's suiting me down to the ground, to be honest, gives me more shed time. Happy to help if you're stuck, though.

  14. In that case you can pass any "Private Jobs" my way for a back hander,....I mean incentive payment.
Do you work for one of the biggies?
I doing loads for MITIE at the moment, mainly banks.
    Sounds impressive....don't be...

  15. Mitie are shit payers, keep on top of them, their paper trail is bloody awful. Any cash work I get I'll let you know.
