996 St2 1997 Fuel Cap

  1. Hey

    Would a ST2 1997 FUEL CAP FIT MY 996?

Scale of 1 to 10 for difficulty in moving the locks from the 996 to the new fuel cap?

    Cheers

  2. This site shows all the models covered by the 748-9** cap. It's been a while since I changed a lock over and in itself it is straightforward enough.

There are two tiny little balls and a spring which are used to hold the fuel cap flap open. It is possible to lose them and if you do the chances of finding the balls in particular is very remote as they are very tiny. Just be aware of that when you remove the lock and keep everything tightly together and you should be fine.

  3. Perfect, thanks.

  4. Its amazing the amount of stuff that swaps between different models.

  6. Fook me, anything you don't have? Can you PM me a price?

  7. Done, sending now

  8. I daren't go back in the shed of surprises to find more stuff. I keep finding more bits squirreled away all the time. My fetish for titanium and magnesium fuels the desire to move on all the standard bits knocking around unused.

  9. I think many of the caps are the same?

I swapped the 'guts' of one from an SS with one from a 996. They were identical, I only swapped because the one with the right key was scratched.

Job was a 3-4/10 just got to watch you don' lose any bits.
