No because it's absolute bollocks! That study has been proved false. Anyone with half a brain cell could tell you that its physically impossible for a minority of 6% of the population to expand to 51% (i.e. a majority) in 35 years! If current birth and death rates remain the same and 100% of children are born muslim then it still only comes to 46% of the population. If 10% of children born are muslim (current statistic) then by 2050 9% of the population will be muslim (an increase of 3%) Please check your 'facts'
But that is not what you are saying, you are blaming the followers of a religion for the actions of a minority. Extremists are by definition a minority, if they were the majority their views would not be extreme! Nobody can argue that we need to stop the rise of violent extremist views (all violent extremist views no matter the origin) but by targeting a whole religion for the actions of a minority you will do exactly the opposite.

I am talking about potential and the dangers for Britain as it becomes a Muslim-majority country. The Koran calls for the killing of homosexuals, marginalisation of women, of nonbelievers. So the public wouldn't hear details of plots that have been thwarted just the rather bland statement, "police have foiled several plots recently". some people are quite happy to live in a rose-tinted bubble. I am not. And I would love to know I where I have made up facts about Islam, a religion that promises celestial virgins "restrained in pavilions" to faithful men in paradise after death. You appear to have no idea what a D Notice is, nor how they work. The government does not and cannot "slap a D Notice" on anything. The whole D Notice system is voluntary and advisory - most media outlets participate but some ignore it completely, which they are perfectly entitled to do.
Of course I knew that Pete! Grandmother/eggs. It's one of the first things we learn. And every media outlet I've worked for has respected them. But yes, slapped is the wrong word. It's just what we say out of frustration when a story is pulled because a D Notice request has been issued.
This isn't very helpful. There are 7 billion people on the planet and 23.2% of them are Muslims (CIA World Factbook). It's ridiculous not to want to engage with some 1.6 billion people. They just can't be that different from everyone else.
A hugely helpful post. I don't know where this figure comes from, but the idea that the UK will be majority Muslim in 35 years time seems like complete tosh. I advise everyone to take an hour to listen to this statistician's superb demonstration about current and past demographics. It is optimistic and extremely uplifting. It will demonstrate why relying on newspapers and the nightly news for your world view is flawed. It's a fascinating hour - look at it as soon as you can:
When anyone accepts that a centuries-old book doesn't have to be followed to the letter I will engage with them. I haven't met a true Muslim who will say that yet. Read Exige's earlier post about his female Muslim friend in Canada. Very true in my experience. Have you had an experience that leads you to believe otherwise?
This was very useful and on the money. The only bit I take issue with is the one on integration which is not borne out either by other polls cited in Europe's Angry Muslims, nor on the concentration of Muslims in certain pockets of the UK.
This is the danger. Anecdotal evidence is not a reliable guide to what really goes on. This is the entire problem with the media. The media report "stories" with "an angle". They seek to provide a coherent narrative on events and given the time they have to do it and the column inches allowed, these stories are necessarily hugely simplistic. You see this everywhere. Viz, the HSBC bank account scandal. Whilst many, or most, of those accounts may have been held by tax cheats, just because you had one, doesn't mean, ipso facto, that you are a tax cheat. But the media has conflated the two. Happens all the time. I advise reading Daniel Kahneman's book Thinking Fast and Slow.
This projection is based on reasonably good data. Between 2004 and 2008, the Muslim population of the UK grew at an annual rate of 6.7 percent, making Muslims 4 percent of the population in 2008. Extrapolating from those figures would mean that the Muslim population in 2020 would be 8 percent, 15 percent in 2030, 28 percent in 2040 and finally, in 2050, the Muslim population of the UK would exceed 50 percent of the total population. Do you have good reason to think that this trend will NOT continue? Please share if you do.
Of course. But then you look at Abu Ghraib and Guantánamo and a load of other examples and one can see that Muslims don't have a monopoly on torture and human rights abuses. I wouldn't want all Christians to be tarred with the US brush, but of course, they are being. Radical Islam is also a mirror being held up to the more extreme actions of the West. That is not to excuse it - but it is clear that it is influenced by it. Hence the outrage at the CIA torture excesses - they make the world a more dangerous place for everyone.
