1200 Services Due At 3 Years 7500m?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Moocow, Feb 19, 2015.

  1. Have my bike booked in for its first service since I bought it last year, just coming up 12 months since last one done when I bought it.
Question is, what is due now? Dealer said it was due the annual plus fluids and valves and talking about around 600 quid.
Mileage will be 7500 and got the reminder on the dash at the most counting down.
Book says otherwise (no valves till 15k), and so does the Ducati Glasgow website here
Servicing Plan N4'11 - Ducati Servicing - Ducati Bikes Glasgow

Is my dealer trying to pull a fast one or they could just have got it wrong on the service desk potentially.
Going to give them a bell in the morning to confirm just want to be sure before I pull them up on it.
    Cheers

  2. No valves due.* I'm sure it's an honest mistake.

    * and no extra fluid changes either.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  3. But £220 sounds a bit excessive though.

    IIRC it should be 1.4 hrs labour.(Say, £66 p/h + vat = £80 approx. X 1.4 = £112). Plus oil £60/filter £10 = £182 total - Oh, and filter disposal charge £5?

Ask for a breakdown of costs.

  4. Will do, will give them a bell tomorrow - it just sounded a bit steep to me for an early service (though this is Ducati we are talking about :D ).
If they start to mess about, will go to CJs instead I think, just checked my warranty book (extended 3rd party scheme) and only requires that the bike be done by a VAT registered garage and to schedule.

I think they may have made a mistake TBH.
From what they relayed to the press on MTS launch, specifically no longer needing to check valves on it at 7500:
Ducati Multistrada 1200 servicing costs slashed | MCN

7500 miles is just an oil change, 15000 for the Desmo.

  5. There is no valve check on the existing model at the first 7500. Its an oil service, not a desmo. Desmo is 15K / 60 Months which will include valves and belts.

  6. Well spoken to them just now.
They insist that it needs the fork oil, clutch, brake fluid and coolant change at 3 years?

Just clear up the confusion - the Ducati Glasgow website I linked to isn't the local dealers - just an example of what is price wise/needed.

Price breakdown is the same though:
    £220ish - Oil Change/standard interim service
£260ish - Fluids - coolant change, brake fluid and bleed, fork oil change, clutch fluid change

    just shy of £500

So its going to Luigi Moto instead ;)
Just spoken to them also, IF it needs extras then it will be done, but not compulsory.

  7. Brake and clutch fluid is 36 month. Fork oil is 36 month / 22.5k mi. Coolant is 48 months / 30k mi. According to the manual (2013).

  9. @Moocow, so who is the dealer you were going to take your bike to ? This is not the first time the servicing regime for the newer generation engines has been be the subject of conversation on this and other forums. Andy

  10. Riders - Bristol branch.

  11. Thank you for that. Luigi Moto is a good choice and has a good reputation with members of this forum. Andy

  12. Agreed, they are but a few miles from me too, wasn't sure I could use them at first due to having an extended warranty through the dealership. Turns out there is no attachment to them bar them selling it to me, even for claims under it which is good to know. Only problem is that I expect a trip to Luigi will cost me more in extras after the service LOL

  13. Bike has been in Luigi since the start of this week and just got it back this afternoon - was waiting on Chris to be in to do the dash side of things.
What can I say, they really look after you there.
A little hiccup with resetting the service light - Chris diags software had an update recently rendering it unable to save the changes to the dash, but will pop back in a couple of weeks to get it done...along with a remap :D I had a feeling I would end up doing it, talking to the guys just reaffirmed that I will get it done.
All in a very good price too, including hydraulic fluid change (brakes etc), a couple of missing bolts and new rear pads (something I can't really do as don't have the tools for getting the rear off) came in well under Riders price plus learnt a lot in the process.
Think I have found a garage for life :)
