  1. Evening all, my stand does not flip up when you stand the bike upright, I'm guessing it must have been modified at some stage, I know lots of people don't like it but I do, does anyone know how I get my stand to do the flippy uppy thing again.

  2. You need to Change the plate that holds the return spring on the back of the stand.

  3. Or the bolt - the previous owner may have just fitted a cut-down bolt so that the plate doesn't pivot around it.

Personally I like the flip-up stand, although many don't.

  4. Post a piccy and we can tell you which bit is missing. I like the flip up too, means I never have a problem pulling off, but you do have to remember to tell the your mechanic, or the young trainee he employs, had a few near misses in the past, and I always hold on to the bike on the channel tunnel in case the biket lifts slightly and colapses the stand. Haven't tried the ferry yet

  5. some pics of the stand,

  6. Looks like the pivot bolt has been cut short. There should be a locknut on the back of the stand either way. If you want to go back to flip up, and the pivot is still oe, you'd need the old plate and nut. If the pivot bolt has been cut, you'd need a new one of those but maybe not the plate.
