OK. Still casual racism though - or xenophobia at least. In out brave new politically correct world there appears to be little room for humour. Intention is all but irrelevant because if someone can take offence they will! I can't imagine any circumstances in which I could have substituted ANY other race or nationality for his foolish Americans jibe and escaped a swift rebuke and a threat of suspension from the bullish one!
In my book others are fair game though and other people will think others are fair game ... before long the site will look like a Jim Davidson sketch!
I suppose it comes down to where you draw the PC line.I would like to think that Im sensible/sensitive enough not to cross MY line,on the forum.There again,I like a bit of humour.Different strokes for different folks and all that.
Er you and others have accused me of hating all Muslims because I've pointed out the lunacy of many influenced by that malign religion, Fin. The fact that the Americans and Australians, for example, are thick-skinned enough not to cry about racism doesn't mean that making pejorative comments about them is not hypocritical and reprehensible
And of course, as I have said, anti-Muslim sentiments are not racist as Muslims come from many ethnicities. Bigoted, perhaps, but not racist.
And if I substituted Asians or Blacks for North of Englanders, you'd be the first to harang me with charges of racism!!!

I agree. If it's funny it's funny. That's why comedians banded together to defeat the last government's attempt to criminalise the mocking of religion in the same way that mocking race has been criminalised. The trouble is that with your "personal line" system there is no agreed line and no one would know where try stand. Sometimes the line ion this forum moves a lot. The English/Americans/Australians all seem fair game but woebetide anyone who comes close to sticking it to a jihadist! Such statements seem to provoke charges of bigotry and strident claims that "it's all the west's fault because it colonised/stole the regions oil/enslaved its populations".
Oh, I see, some people get a bye - but I don't because of what others choose to infer from my posts! That hardly demonstrates the fairness you profess to espouse does it?
