They arrived today from Italy!!! First things first, customer service from Zard was very good. They are really nice people. Cost me 1,289.70 EUR (£963.58 @ 1.3784 Inc £27.97 Credit Card FX Fee - Probably would have been cheaper to transfer cash using transferwise!) Here is the unwrapping... I went a bit over the top with all the pics but I figured people who might be considering these exhausts might be interested in all this. Arrived by UPS. First impressions, pretty high quality welds. I was surprised how light it all was. I've got pics of the install instructions and everything for those interested. I'll install just the cans first and then wait till just before I take the bike for a remap to install the headers and air filter. I got a Pipercross air filter after recommendations from here. I figured it might not be good for the bike to run around lean for too long if I did install the headers and air filter immediately. [/IMG]
i had the slip on for this on my old hyper. great bit of kit and different!! dont see zards :Watching:
Installed yesterday, few hiccups during the install, never straight forward, Italian translated instructions, but worked it all out... pretty quiet actually, even with DB killers out... but sounds a lot better. I'm thinking of installing the decat headers but worried about any damage I might to the engine (running lean) if I ride it around too long before I get it remapped.. will probably be a couple of months before I can get it up to BSD. Any advice on that? I have install pics and video which I'll post shortly...
You will run to lean to be 100% safe. Fit the headers just before you go to BSD. Not worth riding around with the headers fitted as il doubt you'll feel any performance gain. Enjoy your new zard
Thanks for the advice Jason.. I'll be patient. Well end result is that the exhaust is installed and appears to be fine.. despite me skipping the very first step. I could not for the life of me work out where to put the spaces.. pic below of spaces... The instruction say to 'obtain clearance for the silencer' which did not seem to be an issue with the exhausts installed so perhaps this is optional.. if anyone else has installed a Zard exhaust please let me know. Two other small-ish issues. The numberplate is slightly too large and overlaps with the indicators, but that's easily fixable, I'll just source a smaller number plate. The other issue is a little bigger. Installing the Zard removes one of the fixing points from the Hepco & Becker top box plate so it is now only fixed to the front bolt. Something that will probably not impact on anyone else fitting a Zard exhaust as I seem to be alone with installing a top box on a hyper. The top box is still very firmly attached but I'll have to find a way to secure the other fixing point long term. Here is the rest of my install for people's reference if useful. Remover side panels Disassemble the numberplate holder Used a bit of this for the seized nuts (sounds wrong) There's a bolt on the other side of this one also. Clip the cable ties and remove the cables Remove factory silencers Unplug cables for indicators and numberplate light SX=Left DX=Right Pilot= Number plate light Top is only stuck on with velcro and the little nut above... I very nervously pulled it off. That's the old ones off. Lots of left over bolts, nuts & washers Next the install.. relatively quick and simple
Had to start it up with no silencers.. just to see.. was actually not very loud And just with silencers on no DB Killers
Hey Mechcanico Lee, I see you are a Zard-er. Did you install yourself? Any ideas on the spacers? Also I think you went the full system with headers. Where did you get yours remapped? Cheers mate
Hello that's my old bike in the picture , I bought it with the Zards already fitted , it had a pc 5 fitted and was mapped up at Dynojet jet in Barnacre in the North West , the hyper I have now is single sided termi with a PC 5
Great bit of kit there - think the styling goes really well. Here's the creepy bit - see you go by this morning and looks very nice! Sound is up and very nice, just wait until it's all complete with the remap and I'm sure it will sound and behave brilliantly!
Ha ha that's funny. You know I wondered if you might see me one morning. How is it that you come to see me? Are you normally having a coffee that time of the morning so you watch the various bikes ride past or just by chance crossing the road? Yes I'm now really looking forward to finishing this off. It rides 'rougher' now so I'm sure the remap will really feel like a big difference. I'm mostly concerned about my top box only being boltsd on with the front two bolts. I'm going to try and figure out something this weekend. PS do you ride to work Cake?
Where I see you is at crossing past Aldgate where there's contruction work goin to a single lane slowing it all so bikes filter and I'm always keeping an eye out for bikes and ducati L/V twins have a distinct noise so I know ones coming. Yes she will be tougher for now but as everyone a remap does wonders. I never got that until I had a few bits done on a previous car and was amazed. I have. LV decat and standard end cans - sounds great and performance gain but runs rough but I'm okay with that, I like that's it's imperfect and a little bit of an animal. Sometimes if it's a nice day or fancy it - was going to this week now the new tyre is pretty much scrubbed but a nail found its way in! Got to get it repaired this weekend an siting on paddock stands now I'll be at the crossing waiting for you to roar past and show some nice ducati noise
I know the crossing you are talking about. Last week there was a scrambler that went through the same time as me and and 1198 too. Lots of Ducati porn in one place when you typically hardly ever see other Ducati's around London. Shame. Cake you have to wear full Ducati leathers on the tube to work so I can recognise you when you cross the road
Yes a few around there, yourself, 1198, 848, monster 696 and 2 821 hypers all dotted around there but not noticed them further around. I'll park by there and give you wave if I see you don't show off and fall off though
