Perhaps you should put people you think abuse the forums on ignore. That way you won't see their drivel in serious threads and subjects that you want to read about and contribute to. Or if you like you can do this and sort it all out.
You can't start telling people off because they annoy you @Mr.R. FFS you're starting to annoy me now.....wheres @El Toro to slap your wrist!
And that's why I love this place But it'll be so much better when everyone effs off out to go and ride their bikes
bit to much of this going on. never went on this old site people keep talking about, what was the problem there? trolling/aggression? are the same people on here that where on there, seeing as we are naming and shaming on a public forum.
surely all the sections for technical help, model specific questions, bike related content should be kept on topic. If people have a bit of banter within the topic regarding the subject of the thread than thats fine, but its when all the "drivel starts " it becomes hard work. If people go off topic frequently then warn them, if it continues then ban them for a couple of weeks and then try again until it sinks in. Itll never happen so we are wasting our breath suggesting it. Ignore feature is a godsend in my opinion,
I think it may be the moderating of the old Ducatisti site that people are referring to. IMHO it was a bit heavy handed ... no politics, religion etc. was enforced pretty heavily. I was actually a member of the moderator team on that site and I was constantly trying to get many of the other moderators to chill-out! None of them are on here, but some of the members are. Mr.R was one of them, and like him I too would prefer it if people kept the banter on here to the forums and threads where they belong. IMHO they often spoil the bike related-chat which means that sadly I don't use this forum as much as I used to :-(
This is by far the best forum out there! Is it because people on here are generally, for the most part any way, intelligent and able to respond with a degree of decorum that does not offend even when it appears as though it should? I very much like the banter that does exist, it is mostly harmless rubbish that the average adult should be able to deal with without taking too much offence. The real problem lies in crossing THE boundary, and that is the crux. Making this forum too sterile will remove some of the character and aura that make me personally anyway come back for more and more. Its a tough one!!:Watching:
I wont loose any sleep over it either way if im honest. As all i do know is skim read past the shite to the bits i want to read and my ignore filter thingy sorts out a few people who i for sure dont want to read from. Im not even sure if the people i have on ignore are still active (obviuosly) apart from that speed bloke as i see people reference him sometimes.
I agree, we definitely need to keep as many threads on topic as we can. There is lots that does actually get removed (obviously you won't see this!), but there is evidently more work to be done on this. Rob.
Sorry - I will be more polite next time! I think it was in a huge pile of content that I was selecting for deletion.
